Fairly useful hurdler at best but hard to warm to his exploits over fences/hurdles so far this term. This a slight drop in grade but would need to see market support to seriously consider.

Displaying more positive signs of late, reaching the frame in all 3 handicaps. Ought to be in the shake-up again with the step back up in trip in his favour.

20.5f Market Rasen winner last summer. Close third at Wincanton (21f) last month and possibly failed to stay 23f since. Now down markedly in trip with blinkers/tongue tie on.

Modest maiden hurdler for Gordon Elliott. Placed in weak Sedgefield novice on yard debut but well held in a 23f handicap at Exeter since. Back down in trip.

Back to form when second in a claiming hurdle for Louise Allan last week and very interesting now setting out for a yard which does so well with new recruits.

Modest and temperamental on the Flat (0-14 in that sphere). Similar level in 3 starts over hurdles but handicaps so provide her with a more realistic chance of success.

Fair 2m Flat winner (ran respectably last time). No better than modest form over hurdles to this point, however.

Well held in a bumper/completed starts over hurdles. Hard to argue his opening handicap marks looks generous.

Modest on Flat. Has shown ability in 3 runs over hurdles and could have more to offer now moving into a handicap. One of the more interesting runners.

Poor form over hurdles for Jennie Candlish, including well beaten in 2 handicaps at the beginning of the year. Would need to see market support to consider on return for new yard after wind surgery.

Verdict

Dr Richard Newland hasn't had long to work his magic on PHOENIX DAWN but even a repeat of the form he showed when second in a claimer last week on his final outing for his previous yard could be good enough to take this. Cremant should be suited by this return to a longer trip and heads the dangers along with Exeter runner-up Sweeping Rock. Tuscan Pearl is also a potential improver in handicaps.

  3. SWEEPING ROCK (IRE)
