Sprang a surprise when winning a 6f maiden at Windsor at 100/1. Has seemingly had his limitations exposed in three subsequent starts, however, so others are preferred here.

Is from a talented start and completed a winning debut from the front at Salisbury earlier in the month, all out to hang on having disputed te lead. This looks a tough ask second time out, though.

Confirmed debut promise when off the mark at Salisbury 23 days ago but needs a much more marked step forward if he's to feature in this grade.

Well-bred colt who confirmed previous encouragement to socre readily in a maiden at Newmarket 3 weeks ago. Further progress on the cards, so one to consider.

Runner-up in a minor event at Nottingham last time but he's well exposed now and some way short of the level required to feature in a race of this nature.

Justified support in a newcomers' race at Ascot, then split a couple of subsequent winners when runner-up in a listed event at Doncaster in September. Sets a clear standard with more to come.

Left an underwhelming debut behind him when powering away to land a Newmarket novice by a wide margin 15 days ago. Underperformed on quicker ground in the Champagne Stakes but too soon to write off.

Useful type who capitalised on a pace collapse when providing a shock in a listed event at York a fortnight ago. Hard to imagine he'll find much more progress, though.

Unbeated in 2 starts, defying a penalty for his Salisbury success in comfortable style in a 4-runner event at Nottingham last time. This is a big step up but there's more to come.

Fourth in the Superlative Stakes at Newmarket and resumed progress to land C&D listed event in August. Below form in Champagne Stakes since but return to this sort of ground should suit.

Made a winning debut at Newmarket in June and produced admirable efforts to be placed on all 3 outings, second in a sales race at the Curragh last time. Might have to settle for minor honours again.

Forecasts

Laneqash (7/4), Mujbar (5/1), Existent (5/1), Nastase (10/1), Star Of Orion (10/1), Saint Lawrence (14/1), Percy's Lad (20/1), Albadri (20/1), Roscioli (22/1), Autumn Twilight (22/1), Champagne Piaff (28/1), Fountain Cross (100/1)

Verdict

It's hard to look beyond LANEQASH, who followed an impressive winning start with a big effort to finish a narrow second in a listed event at Doncaster and now looks capable of making his breakthrough in pattern company. Existent could prove the main danger having quickened up smartly to land a Newmarket maiden last time.

  1. LANEQASH
  2. EXISTENT
  3. MUJBAR
