Scored twice last term and has held his form well this season, runner-up with no excuses in a 7-runner handicap at Newmarket 15 days ago. Should give another good account.

Well treated and, while not the most straightforward, he's shaped better than the result the last twice, not ideally placed when eighth in the Cambridgeshire last time. Can't be completely dismissed.

Progressive during 2019, winning 4 times. Solid return when runner-up at Sandown but completely failed to back it up at Newbury, so others are more appealing.

€600,000 Frankel colt who overcame unfavourable conditions to make a winning start at Newcastle, then followed up in comfortable fashion at Beverley 3½ months later. More to come, so leading claims.

Improving colt who landed his first couple of handicaps before a tame display at this course 49 days ago. Could get back on the up returning from a short break with a tongue strap on.

Shaped well at Beverley a month ago and back to winning ways from the front at Ripon in August. Shaped as if still in form over C&D last time but arguably needs a lesser test.

Back to form when runner-up at Chester 13 days ago and well treated if he can build on it, so warrants respect.

Immediately improved switched to handicaps, successful at Beverley and Doncaster, then produced a good effort when fourth at latter course. Longer trip is an unknown.

C&D winner who ended a lengthy losing run when scoring at Chester last month. This is more competitive, though, and he's not certain to turn up in the same mood.

Returned to form when third of 19 in handicap over C&D, then respectable fifth to Baryshnikov at Ayr. Others look better treated, though.

Is on a roll now, supplementing Chester win with an impressive performance at Ayr, cosily on top having come from further back than ideal. Very much one to consider.

Verdict

It's hard to look beyond the talented VALYRIAN STEEL, who made a big impression at Newcastle on debut, then was going away at the finish when landing the odds at Beverley recently. A mark of 89 could underestimate him, so he's preferred to the hat-trick seeking Baryshnikov, with Marronnier also considered.
