C&D winner. Sixteen runs since last win in 2018. 25/1, eighth of 10 in handicap at Kempton (6f) 14 days ago. Should come on for that (first run for 8 months) and he's a must for the shortlist.

Fourteen runs since last win in 2018. 10/1, eighteenth of 21 in handicap at Doncaster (5.6f, good to firm) 26 days ago. Hood back on. Stall 12 isn't ideal for this habitual trailblazer.

Latest win at Wolverhampton in August. Bit below form third of 6 in handicap at this C&D (7/2) 28 days ago. Couldn't rule out with Oisin Murphy back in the saddle.

7/1, career best when winning 12-runner C&D handicap (third victory over C&D) 7 days ago, keeping on well. More needed under a penalty but couldn't rule out all the same.

Visored for 1st time, career best when winning 7-runner handicap (9/2) at Yarmouth (5.2f, good to firm) 23 days ago. 5 lb higher mark to contend with but 3-10 on AW and cannot be safely ruled out.

Eighth of 12 in handicap (11/1) at Newmarket (5f, good) when last seen in June. Winner of 2 of her 7 AW starts and certainly capable of a bold show off this mark. Has undergone wind surgery.

Benny And The Jets (4/1), Top Breeze (5/1), Jack The Truth (5/1), Grandfather Tom (7/1), A Momentofmadness (15/2), Lancelot Du Lac (8/1), Mercenary Rose (9/1), Queen's Order (16/1), Firepower (16/1), Daschas (22/1), Get Boosting (33/1), Moonraker (125/1)

Verdict

The vote in this competitive handicap goes to TOP BREEZE, who boasts a good strike rate on the all-weather and he returned to form when hitting the crossbar at Bath last month. It's been a while since the veteran Lancelot Du Lac last got his head in front, but he shaped well back from an 8-month break at Kempton and is feared off his lowest mark for many a year. Mercenary Rose is also respected.

  1. TOP BREEZE (IRE)
  2. LANCELOT DU LAC (ITY)
  3. MERCENARY ROSE (IRE)
