Fifteen runs since last win in 2019. 50/1 and tongue strap on for 1st time, seventh of 13 in handicap at this C&D 4 days ago, eased final 1f. Blinkers on 1st time. Others more persuasive.

Course winner but struggled in course handicaps at the start of this year and just 4 days ago. Mark has come down a long way as a result but would need to see market support to consider.

One win from 25 Flat runs. 12/1, turned in best effort of the season when third of 14 in handicap at Hamilton (8.3f, soft) 11 days ago, running on. Expected to be bang there if building on that.

Forecasts

Scots Sonnet (6/4), Najib (9/4), G For Gabrial (7/1), Chinese Spirit (10/1), Jervaulx (12/1), Splash Of Verve (16/1), Wensley (16/1), False Id (18/1), Crash Helmet (22/1), Total Distraction (33/1), Kodiac Lass (40/1), River Sprite (50/1), Thomas Hawk (100/1), Just Heather (200/1)

Verdict

WENSLEY hasn't tasted victory since 2017, but he turned in his best effort of the season when third at Hamilton 11 days ago and he should go close if building on that from this basement mark. Scots Sonnet almost broke his long-standing duck here 10 days ago, but he may have to settle for silver again, while Najib and Splash of Verve look best of the remainder.
