Class 4 | 1m 4f 13y | Good (Good to Firm in places) | 7 Runners | Turf
Off time: 17:15 | Winning time: 2m 37.21s
Shaped as if needing the run after 16 months off when seventh of 8 in handicap at Ripon (9.8f, good to soft, 66/1) 18 days ago. Up in trip. Cheekpieces back on. Given a chance by the assessor.
6/1, seemed unable to handle such testing conditions after 7 months off when ninth of 11 in handicap at this C&D (heavy) 24 days ago. Cheekpieces back on. Needs a couple of these to falter.
12/1, shaped as if still in some sort of form when eighth of 13 in handicap at Newmarket (12f, good to soft) 21 days ago, slowly away.
Latest win at Pontefract in July. 10/1, wasted no time getting back to form when second of 11 in handicap at York (11.8f, good) 12 days ago. Expected to be bang there.
Last of 11 in handicap at York (11.8f, good, 12/1) 62 days ago. Subsequently gelded and he has a bit to prove now.
Looked on the up when winning over this trip at Beverley in July but not easy to fancy here having run poorly at Pontefract 5 weeks ago, possibly amiss. Needs to bounce back.
12/1, an poorly back in a handicap when last of 9 at Hamilton (11.1f, good to soft) 17 days ago, dropping away from 2f out. Blinkers on 1st time.
Sudona (3/1), Matewan (10/3), Ashington (7/2), Kitten's Dream (11/2), Gold Souk (15/2), Golden Sandbanks (10/1), Mukhayyam (16/1)
A short break is possibly just what SUDONA needed as she bounced back to form when runner-up at York earlier this month. She's taken to get back to winning ways at the expense of Ian Williams' Matewan, who shaped as if still in some kind of form at Newmarket 3 weeks ago, while Ashington and Golden Sandbanks can fight out the minor honours.
