Front-runner who improved on recent efforts to win 12-runner amateurs' handicap at Salisbury (1m) last month. Ridden too aggressively when fifth at Goodwood since and likely still in form.
Improved to make second handicap start a winning one over 7f here last month, quickening to lead near the finish. Has the potential for better again now moving up to 1m.
Arrives on the back of good runner-up efforts at Newbury and Sandown (both good to soft) last month. Races off the same mark here and ought to be in the shake-up again.
Shaped as if back in form when fourth at Ayr last month and confirmed it when landing 11-runner event at Ripon (1m, good to soft) 9 days ago. More on his plate under a 4 lb penalty.
Proved better than ever when winning 18-runner handicap at Redcar (1m, good to firm) in July and creditable ¾-length third to reopposing Mustaqbal at Ripon last week. 4 lb better off with him now.
Ended light juvenile campaign with Newcastle victory and has returned with two good placed efforts in 7f handicaps on turf (here on heavy first occasion). Ought to stay 1m.
Creditable fourth of 11 in handicap at Hamilton (11f, soft) last month. Did too much too soon over 1½m at Catterick since and probably still in form. Significantly down in trip.
Much improved when easy winner of 1m Salisbury apprentice event (good to soft) a week ago. Escapes a penalty for that so likely to take a bit of stopping if in the same form.
Back to winning ways at Hamilton (1m, good to soft) last month. Bit too keen for his own good when fifth over further at Ripon since and this drop back to 1m could suit.
Forecasts
Wightman (7/4), Proclaimer (4/1), Vulcan (5/1), Qasbaz (6/1), Dreamseller (12/1), Mustaqbal (12/1), George Mallory (18/1), Brutalab (18/1), Mountain Rescue (28/1)
A race which to a large degree revolves around WIGHTMAN who won by 5½ lengths off this mark at Salisbury last week so should prove hard to beat if in anything like the same form. Vulcan has posted fine runner-up efforts on his last 2 starts and is perhaps the one most likely to profit should the selection underperform.
