Twenty nine runs since last win in 2017. Reached frame on first 2 starts this year but last of 14 in handicap at Kempton (11f) 49 days ago.
Fared better than previously this year when fifth over C&D 9 days ago and is now 7 lb lower than when scoring over C&D last September. No surprise to see him play a prominent role.
Built on improved third over C&D last month when comfortably seeing off 11 rivals in 9f Newbury handicap 15 days ago. 6 lb rise doesn't look severe, particularly with further progress a possibility.
Improved when making a successful reappearance at Lingfield (AW) in June but not in the same form when well held on turf at Newbury since.
Now a beaten favourite on his last 2 starts but the strength behind him in the betting suggests his shrewd stable thinks he's capable of striking from this mark.
Too free when stepped up to 12.5f for AW handicap debut 29 days so the drop back in trip could help and he's an unexposed sort from a good yard. Blinkers he's worn previously are left off.
Best run in maidens when sixth in 1½m Newbury maiden (good to soft) 16 days ago, fading after racing prominently. Back down in trip for handicap debut.
Fair form in AW maiden/novice events over the winter. Returns for a yard which has enjoyed a good time since racing resumed and he's respected on this turf/handicap debut.
Respectable in-frame efforts on all 3 outings this year. Every chance he'll give his running again but hard to argue he has anything in hand of his mark.
Step back in right direction with cheekpieces added when second over this trip at Bath (good to firm) 18 days ago. Likely softer ground an unknown but has the right profile as a lightly-raced 3-y-o.
Forecasts
Sweet Reward (7/4), Zzoro (11/2), Sacre Bleu (13/2), Cuttin' Edge (7/1), Tindrum (17/2), Harlow (12/1), Noble Gift (14/1), Tiger Zone (14/1), Voice Of Calm (28/1), Alborkan (28/1)
SWEET REWARD is a 3-y-o going the right way and can make light of a 6 lb rise for Newbury. Alborkan, who returns for a yard which continues in form, and Tiger Zone are other low-mileage 3-y-os who may have more to come, while Harlow has been knocking on the door this term and is also respected.
- SWEET REWARD (IRE)
- ALBORKAN (FR)
- TIGER ZONE (IRE)
