170,000 gns yearling. Half-brother to several winners, including smart winner up to 1½m Miner's Lamp and useful 6f winner Only Mine. Dam 9f-10.7f winner. Probably best watched on belated debut.
200/1, last of 7 in minor event at Carlisle (5f, good) on debut. Off over 2 years and significantly up in trip on first run for a new yard.
16/1, seventh of 10 in minor event at Thirsk (8f, good to firm) on debut 31 days ago, slowly away. Probably more one for handicaps further down the line.
Promising individual. Fifth of 11 in maiden (40/1) at Hamilton (9.2f, good to soft) on debut 16 days ago. Open to improvement, albeit this drop in trip is of dubious benefit.
Thrice-raced maiden. Fifth of 9 in minor event (7/2) at Thirsk (8f, good to firm) 31 days ago, slowly away. Hopes pinned on first-time cheekpieces sparking a bit of improvement.
Twice-raced maiden. 125/1, ninth of 12 in minor event at Thirsk (8f, good to firm) 54 days ago, slowly away. Readily passed over.
Monsieur Bond gelding. Brother to 6f winner Questo. Dam ran twice. Yard is hardly synonymous with winning newcomers.
Second of 8 in maiden (18/1) at Leicester (8.2f, good to firm) on debut 43 days ago. That experience won't be wasted on him but he's another who may be seen in a better light in handicaps later on.
Fairly useful gelding. 5/2, creditable second of 11 in maiden at Hamilton (9.2f, good to soft) 16 days ago. Very much the one to beat.
Lope De Vega gelding. Half-brother to 1½m winner Amadeus and useful 2-y-o 1m winner Blue Gardenia. Dam 1m winner who stayed 11.5f. Likely type on paper and one to note in the betting.
Promising individual. Third of 9 in minor event at Thirsk (8f, good to firm, 11/1) on debut 31 days ago. Should progress and make her presence felt here.
Fourth of 13 in minor event at this course (7f, good to firm, 33/1) on debut 33 days ago, not knocked about. Open to improvement and each-way squeak if able to build on that.

Forecasts
War Defender (11/10), Garden Paradise (9/2), Yukon (6/1), Daniel Deronda (15/2), Bonneval (11/1), Quiteacatch (14/1), Clan Jock (22/1), Ring Of Gold (25/1), Panzertank (50/1), Alessandro Allori (80/1), Bluetech (100/1), Spirit Of Opal (125/1), Major Bond (150/1), Hail Sezer (200/1)
This represents a golden opportunity for WAR DEFENDER to deservedly open his account. He pulled clear of the rest when chasing home Throne Hall, who finished runner-up in a Class 3 Beverley handicap on Thursday, at Hamilton last time and a reproduction of that will surely suffice. Garden Paradise made an encouraging start to her career at Thirsk and is next on the list ahead of newcomer Yukon.
