Won over 5f here last Friday (16/1) and interesting the visor is retained; and he's out quickly under a 5lb penalty. Not noted for consistency lately; but worth bearing in mind he's still well handicapped and has won twice on the bounce before now.

Been one of the top earners from the runners on this card and notable that he's set to race from 1lb below a winning mark over C&D last August; recent starts at Chepstow have brought little reward but the change of scenery might prick his interest.

Won over 7f here in February but was held in all three starts since. Might have needed the run last time out but still has a bit to do over this trip and from 4lb above that last winning mark.

Fully exposed on turf but boasts just two runs on the AW so far; neither was much to write home about and her effectiveness on the surface is still a mystery. Has only ever won when held up off a strong pace; which can be hard to do at this course.

Has a bit to prove with Quaaraat from last time out at Catterick and the wide draw does him no favours in his bid to reverse the form. A stiff test ahead on recent evidence. (Record of 1-19 on the AW also hardly inspiring reading.)

Done well since joining her current yard and has run with plenty of zest lately. Often gives herself a lot to do but this is within her grasp if she gets the breaks in running; a second win on synthetics is long overdue for this this tough filly.

Handicapped to be competitive but recent form suggests otherwise; plenty to prove on Tapeta debut from a career lowest mark.

Form has been on a downward spiral since she won on debut at Leicester last June - even though her best efforts since have been posted at this course - and the drop to 6f is cause for concern. Has a lot to prove from her basement rating.

Less exposed than most and possible this new trip will see her in a better light. A market move in her direction would be interesting even though the face value of last year's efforts leave her with something to find.

Most of his recent form has been over 7f but he's a previous C&D winner that doesn't have much to find if he's back on song. Stands his racing well and should get a good tow into the race from a handy draw. Dangerous to dismiss lightly.

Verdict

All of these have been expensive to follow for one reason or another and it's not without caution that MAID MILLE gets a tentative nomination. She's been notoriously hard to win with (both for Robert Cowell and for her current yard) but her recent form stands up to scrutiny at this level and she's given another throw of the dice. Sharrabang can make this tough for the suggestion, as can Deconso and the penalised Hard Solution, who both merit consideration. Kinglami might be in the veteran stage of his career but he goes well at this course and could also find events unfolding to suit.
  1. Maid Millie
  2. Sharrabang
  3. Deconso
