Showed a bit of improvement from her debut when chasing home an improving individual at Catterick last month but those in behind that day were nothing out of the ordinary and she has a stiff test giving weight away at this stage.

Day Job12

A half-sister to 7f winner Jack Randall, she's shown promise in three previous runs and makes some appeal now upped in distance for her handicap debut. Ground conditions should suit; can go close.

Finished down the field behind Day Job at Beverley last month and work to do to reverse the form on these terms; might improve now handicapping and the rider's 3lb claim assists at the weights; but still more needed.

Getting better with each run and steps into handicap company on a very workable mark. Has the beating of More Than Lucky on a literal reading of her last-time-out form; no surprise to see the filly heavily involved this time.

Not much to get enthusiastic about from his four previous starts and the fact that the handicapper has already cut him some slack suggests he's another with a bit to find this afternoon.

The form of her debut run (6f, good) at Redcar was boosted on Sunday and the return to this trip for her handicap debut looks a sensible move. Likely there's more to come; one for the shortlist at least.

Form has been modest so far (has a bit to find with Shesaheart after finishing 3¾L behind that rival at Catterick last month). Possibly lost her race when rearing in the stalls last time but still arrives with something to prove.

Apache Mist16

Held in all three previous starts but at least has course experience and may well improve for moving back to 6f (introduced over this trip at Leicester in early July). However, others still look more solid options at this stage.

Upside Down19
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-1| J: Cam Hardie| T: A Brittain| OR:  51

Winners in her pedigree but three runs so far have brought very little return. Another that needs to improve now handicapping.

Appeals on pedigree and is slowly learning her trade. More needed than she's shown so far but the switch to this sort of competition might bring progress. The rider's limited time with a 3lb claim is a bonus but his mount is unproven on the surface.

Forecasts

Annie Rose (7/2), Voodoo Whodoo (4/1), Shesaheart (5/1), Day Job (6/1), Twilight Lucy (8/1), Apache Mist (10/1), Cool Dandy (10/1), Heatherdown Matron (11/1), More Than Lucky (14/1), Upside Down (16/1), The Pretty Way (16/1), Fircombe Hall (40/1)

Verdict

VOODOO WHODOO is on the upgrade and is taken to appreciate the opportunity presented to her now she tries a handicap for the first time. She's a half-sister to a winner on the AW and, having held the likes of More Than Lucky last time out, she looks worth a punt in this company. More Than Lucky is respected but has improvement to find; so Day Job and Shesaheart look to be more of a threat to the selection on this occasion. The former can be fancied to relish the step in trip and is suggested as the best alternative if Voodoo Whodoo misfires for any reason. Annie Rose is another to place on the shortlist.
  1. Voodoo Whodoo
  2. Day Job
  3. Shesaheart
