Best efforts last year when a close fourth in the Group 1 Sussex Stakes and third in Group 2 Celebration Mile, at Goodwood. Second to Limato in the Criterion Stakes at Newmarket on return, and better judged on that than latest fourth at Haydock.

Won a Chelmsford novice event (1m, AW) on debut in February, and made a big step up on that when runner-up in a Newmarket Listed event. Disappointing since, but this is easier than the Group 2 Summer Mile he contested at Ascot last time.

Rather in the wilderness since excellent effort to be second in the 2018 2000 Guineas. Better effort this term when 4¼L fifth of 12 to Tabdeed in Hackwood Stakes at Newbury last time, and chance if he can build on that more encouraging effort.

Ended 2019 on a downbeat note, but smart on her day, and was noted making stealthy late headway when fifth in the Group 3 Oak Tree Stakes at Goodwood recently. Should be sharper for that, and much respected.

Verdict

None of the quartet arrive at the very top of their games, but at the same time, all have something to recommend them. ANNA NERIUM would have needed the run after an absence at Goodwood behind One Master last week, but she caught the eye in the end, and could make her allowance count if this doesn't come too soon. Happy Power tops the ratings, and should give a good account, with Lord Tennyson disappointing last time, but perhaps worth another try dropped in class.
