Twice a winner last season, including brave Sandown success on h'cap bow over 1m2f in August; failed to fire on seasonal return at Newmarket (1m4f, good to firm; 6-1) and blinkers are reached for here coming back in distance.
Newbury winner over this trip 13 month ago; has won on AW since that and has now dipped 4lb below previous win-mark after three defeats in this grade since racing returned. Can be competitive.
Three AW wins since December, all over 1m4f, 50-1 and ran accordingly on return from 124-day absence at Kempton (1m4f, AW) last month and needs career-best to defy this mark back on grass.
Windsor winner last month over a mile and comes here after cracking second in 1m1f Glorious Goodwood handicap five days ago; runs from the same mark and officially has 4lb in hand as such.
Pontefract maiden winner over 1m4f in September last year; couple of poor efforts however since returning from winter break and cannot be supported with confidence at this point in time.
4-15 record includes three successes from last four starts on the all-weather. Game winner at Wolverhampton (1m1½f) in March when last out; more on his plate in first-time hood for new trainer but cannot be dismissed.
Three-time winner on the AW but 0-11 on turf previously; didn't run a bad race at Salisbury (1m4f, good to firm; 50-1) last month on seasonal bow but must improve on that in this higher grade despite being eased 2lb since.
Forecasts
Overwrite (4/7), Just The Man (13/2), Dubai Instinct (15/2), Ballylemon (17/2), Renardeau (16/1), Clem A (33/1), Banish (33/1)
OVERWRITE has 4lb in hand after an excellent Glorious Goodwood second five days ago and assuming he's in the same form today, should prove hard to topple. Clem A was in excellent form on the all-weather in the spring but does have more to do back on turf after his break. He's respected starting out for a new trainer while Just The Man appeals as being on a competitive mark.
