Won 1m2f Ffos Las and 1m4f Chepstow last term. Had three starts on AW this summer showing some promise and returns to turf off same mark as last win. Plenty of weight but may not be far away.

Yet to score beyond 1m2f and has looked a doubtful stayer on previous attempts beyond that trip. No show on first start back following winter absence but should be better for that outing. Others make more appeal though.

Yet to win beyond 1m2f on turf but has scored over 1m4f on AW. Ran creditably both starts so far this term including latest 4th over 1m4f at Leicester where faded inside distance. Represents last year's winning yard and is respected.

New Approach colt who showed a little ability in two outings last season then improved on second start this summer up to 1m2f when staying on fourth at Chepstow last time. 1lb lower and longer trip looks right call.

Took 25 races before getting off the mark at Ffos Las 1m4f last September having gone close on a few occasions on AW. Not seen since December and usually needs a few rusd before finding form so others appear to have stronger claims.

220,000gns Excelebration gelding out of 1m4f winner. No worldbeater but has hinted at a lttle ability in three starts since making debut in June and goes handicapping here off mark of 63 as he steps up in trip. Worth noting for market confidence.

Won Lingfield 1m2f AW h'cap in February but showed nothing first two starts following enforced break. Much better last time when close fourth over 1m2f Salisbury last month but has stamina to prove back up in trip here.

Free Eagle gelding out of dam third in Group 2 Ribblesdale Stakes (1m4f). Hasn't shown a great deal to write home about in three runs so far in 1m2f maidens but this is a different kettle of fish and first-time visor could prompt improvement.

11-race maiden who has kept on over 1m2f last two starts so is worth a try at this longer trip. 3lb wrong at the weights though and has quite a lot to prove.

Sligo Bay filly who has shown very little in five runs so far and is 5lb wrong at the weights. Very hard to see her figuring in the finish on evidence so far.

Forecasts

Flashing Approach (3/1), Prince Alex (10/3), Lyrica's Lion (10/3), Bug Boy (13/2), Uganda Heights (15/2), Sir I'll Chance It (18/1), Tattenhams (20/1), Good Impression (25/1), Rakematiz (50/1), Binmar's Sexy Lexy (100/1)

Verdict

A run-of-the-mill middle-distance handicap to finish but a chance for northern raider FLASHING APPROACH to grab a first win having hinted he was coming to hand with a solid effort last time over 1m2f. This longer trip should prompt further improvement. The first-time visor may help Uganda Heights who is bred to be decent and starts life in handicaps off a modest mark, while Prince Alex is another tackling this company for the first time and he too is open to improvement at this level. Of those with more experience Lyrica's Lion and Bug Boy have claims on the pick of their form.
  1. Flashing Approach
  2. Uganda Heights
  3. Prince Alex
