Well handicapped but there's been very little to get excited about from his three starts this season; down in grade here but still a lot to prove under top weight.
Well handicapped and would have solid claims on the pick of his efforts. However, he's on a long losing run and two most recent starts on turf have been uninspiring. Too keen over C&D latest and needs a lot to go his way.
Still a maiden but has a race within him from this sort of mark and worth a try over this trip. Can make the running and dangerous if allowed his own way. Only his second time in blinkers so might be more to come; the betting can guide.
Lightly raced on turf and has some scope to improve; the form of his latest start has been franked since so no surprise if he's in the mix. The draw could have been kinder but not beaten far when tried over 5f last month; reasonable place claims.
Paid his way over the years and is respected from just 1lb above his winning mark over C&D last September. Should get the strong pace he needs and he looks the more likely contender from the yard's two intended runners.
Possibly pulled too hard when he finished last of seven over C&D last month (Bashiba ran on well to finish third that day). Does have a 5f win to his name at this course but recent evidence suggests others might hold sway again this time.
Best previous form has been posted over 6f and he's got a little to prove on his first try over the minimum trip for almost two years. Needs a strong pace at this distance but possible the race will be run to suit; very capable of making the frame.
C&D winner from a 1lb higher mark last August and has shown a definite liking for this particular track. She'll be sharper after a couple of recent spins and has to merit a check from her handy current mark.
Finished just in front of Bashiba over C&D earlier in the month and also ran with merit when fourth of 11 (5f, soft) at Haydock latest; likes this course and no back number despite her advanced age.
Has form that ties in with a few of these and very possible the return to this course will prick her interest. She's 0-16 so far but could still be a player as she currently finds herself on a career lowest mark. Another with place claims at least.
Registered his only win (from 35 previous starts) over C&D two years ago but ran with credit to be placed several times since. Well held in both outings since the return of racing though and has something to prove on balance.
Forecasts
Economic Crisis (7/2), The Defiant (5/1), Lucky Beggar (11/2), Ballyare (6/1), Requinto Dawn (8/1), Obee Jo (9/1), Northern Society (12/1), Bashiba (14/1), Amazing Alba (16/1), True Hero (16/1), Burmese Blazer (40/1)
A few of these are old rivals and there's little to split the likes of Amazing Alba, Bashiba, and Economic Crisis , who all merit consideration on the pick of their efforts. However, it might be worth siding with the less exposed OBEE JO, who could be difficult to peg back if he gets a flyer from the gates. Others to consider include: Northern Society, Ballyare, and Lucky Beggar, who also have solid enough past form to suggest they can make this a competitive race for the grade.
- Obee Jo
- Economic Crisis
- Bashiba
