Horse A-Z
Bumper winner on debut at Newcastle last December and ran respectably on hurdles debut at Uttoxeter earlier in the month, looking very much in need of it. Will want further in time but each-way chances here all the same.

Placed in a point-to-point and then looked very much in need of some obstacles (and probably more of a trip) when third of four in a Musselburgh bumper in February. Should improve on that and has place chances for local yard.

150/1
Well held in to point-to-points and two bumpers to date, and has no realistic chance of success on what we have seen so far.

14/1
Ran well enough on hurdles debut at Huntingdon in February to think he's got races in him, but didn't build on that here next time out and an early unseat at Market Rasen last time hardly increases his chances today. Others make more appeal.

2/5
Won a Class 3 handicap chase (2m) at Southwell on latest start, and if he can reproduce that effort over hurdles here, looks the one to beat. Probably won't want a lot of rain but that aside, has a lot going for him here.

200/1
Readily left behind in a couple of novice hurdles this month and needs the addition of first time cheekpieces to have a major effect if he's to get competitive today.
7
Horse silk
200/1
Soon left behind once the taps were turned on on his Southwell hurdles debut earlier in the month and faces another uphill battle here.
8
Horse silk
125/1
Moderate on the Flat but it wasn't a disaster on hurdles debut when midfield behind the useful The Macon Lugnatic at Doncaster in March. Probably one for handicaps, but not impossible he could hit the minor placings here.
9
Horse silk
50/1
Still a maiden after 19 starts under all codes, and he was far too free on his hurdles debut at Southwell earlier in the month. Not hard to look elsewhere for the winner.

7/2
Twice a winner on the Flat (8-10f) for David Evans but slighty disappointing given she was well fancied for hurdles debut at Stratford. Tongue tie now given a try and if that helps her finishing effort then she could take a step forward here.
Sent off 150/1 for hurdles debut at Southwell and she was far too keen and made mistakes before pulling up mid-race. Can't be entertained as the winner on that showing.

Forecasts

Isaac Wonder (2/5), Lady Reset (7/2), Away At Dawn (11/2), Del Duque (14/1), Aire Valley Lad (25/1), Chinese Alphabet (50/1), Watchman (125/1), Dee Lane (150/1), Thirsty Farmer (200/1), Rivers End (200/1), Someone You Love (200/1)

Verdict

Not the strongest of novice events to kick off with. ISAAC WONDER is unlucky not to have won a novice hurdle already, as he fell when looking in control of one at Ffos Las last year, but since then he has proven himself a useful chaser, and as long as the switch back to the smaller obstacles does not inconvenience him, he should be winning this. Better can surely be expected from Lady Reset now she has the tongue tie to help, and Aire Valley Lad's bumper form gives him place chances. For those wanting a swing at something at a bigger price, Watchman might give you a run for your money.
  1. Isaac Wonder
  2. Lady Reset
  3. Aire Valley Lad
