Almost back to his last winning mark after a few below par efforts and only showed a bit of promise on his reappearance run last month. May strip fitter for that, and conditions fine, but you'd like to see a bit more before investing.
Has a very good record at the track, with four wins here from five starts, and he looked to be coming back to form when not beaten far over 6f at Ayr on latest start. On a workable mark and looks sure to go close.
Tumbling in the handicap but that's down to a series of moderate efforts and he's not reall yshowing any signs of coming out of the slump any time soon. Others preferred.
Has a couple of course wins to his name, but he's hard to catch right at the best of times. Solid enough effort at Chelmsford last time indicates he's in some form, and return to this venue may help, but he comes with a bit of risk.
Now just 1lb higher than his last win, which came at Chepstow last August, and returned to form when beaten ¾l back at Chepstow on latest start. Should handle this surface and has cheekpieces on today. One to consider.
Winner on debut for Ivan Furtado last year but has changed yards after just the four starts for them. Isn't straightforward but has ability, and possible a switch to new yard will eke a bit more out. Not discounted despite an absence.
On a fair mark if he can recapture some of his better form but he has been readily held in two starts since the resumption of racing and now connections try some headgear. Yard struggling for a winner as well, and others preferred.
Winner off this mark last year but two very poor efforts since racing came back, only beating a couple of horses home in two starts and showing little. Can't be entertained in current frame of mind.
Handles conditions fine, as he showed when runner-up over C&D last December but that was only a claimer and it's been a couple of years since he got his head in front. Absence to overcome too, and others preferred.
Very well backed to score here last November, and only 3lb higher here. Latest effort forgiven as he got upset in stalls, and this might be more his bag. Of even greater interest if the money comes again.
Had a good time of it last year with three victories but has paid the price for that with his mark, which had been too high for a while. Back to something more workable now and excuses for defeat on reappearance, so is worth a second look.
Tailed off at huge prices last three starts and has no realistic chance of success here. On a good mark were he suddenly to recapture his best, but that looks very unlikely.
Forecasts
Tranchee (7/2), Global Warning (4/1), Chookie Dunedin (5/1), Gambon (11/2), Robero (8/1), Kupa River (12/1), Inaam (14/1), Fancy Footings (18/1), Confrontational (18/1), Azzeccagarbugli (20/1), Giogiobbo (28/1), The Night Watch (80/1)
With not that much in the way of early pace in the race, likely leader Tranchee can be given a chance on his first run for David Loughnane and if there's a bit of money around for him, so much the better. Market support for Inaam would make him interesting too, but as it stands this looks a good chance for course specialst CHOOKIE DUNEDIN to gain another victory here. He is running himself into form after the break and the step back up to 7f after a good effort over six at Ayr can only help. Kupa River likes it here too, and is worth a second look despite a below par effort at Musselburgh last time.
- Chookie Dunedin
- Tranchee
- Kupa River
