3,500,000gns yearling; brother to triple Group 1 winner Too Darn Hot. Looked potentially high class when routing his field at Newbury (1m2f, good to soft) on debut earlier this month. Should be more to come and will be hard to stop under a penalty.

Another son of Dubawi, who was 8-1 on his recent debut at Pontefract, but was never dangerous there and was eventually beaten 22L. Can only watch until there are signs of ability.
Well held on debut at Newbury (1m, good to soft) last month, and took a backward step when going to Thirsk (1m, good) for another tilt more recently. Vast improvement needed in this field.

Horse silk
150/1
50-1 and had a nigh-on impossible task on debut behind Pinatubo at Wolverhampton (6f, AW) in May 2019. It is a concern that he hasn't been seen since then, so returns with well being as the first thing he has to prove.

11/2
Gelded son of Shamardal out of a Dubawi mare who won over 1m3f. 13-2 on his recent debut over C&D (good; cheekpieces), when he dwelt and was never really a threat. Wasn't devoid of ability either, but needs a big step up on that to challenge here.

Horse silk
40/1
$200,000 yearling and son of War Front, out of a Galileo mare. Despite his pedigree, expectations appeared to be low (66-1) on debut, when he gradually got the hang of things at Kempton (1m, AW). Much more needed this time.

Horse silk
10/1
Nice enough pedigree and was a solid 13-2 chance on last month's debut at Newbury, when she made no impression (1m, good). Should come on for that, and looks one of several here who could pick up some prize money.

Horse silk
Lady Esta
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-11| J: Ryan Tate| T: M Murphy
66/1
20,000gns foal; 80,000gns yearling; half-sister to four winners from 5f-1m, the best being Mutawathea. Dam placed 6f at two. Trainer 10% with 3yos over five seasons, but this is a tough-looking debut assignment.

Forecasts

Darain (1/6), Vottoria Light (11/2), Kew Palace (10/1), Noonday Gun (28/1), War Cross (40/1), Lady Esta (66/1), O'Reilly's Pass (100/1), Sea The Spirit (150/1)

Verdict

Several in here look like potential improvers, with perhaps Vottoria Light, Kew Palace and War Cross the ones who should be fighting out minor honours. However, for the win, it is very hard to look beyond DARAIN, who looked very good on debut and should not be prevented from a successful follow-up by a 7lb penalty on the evidence of his Newbury performance.
  1. Darain
  2. Vottoria Light
  3. Kew Palace
