C&D when last seen defeating the re-opposing Glasses Up by 2¼L (now 6lb worse off) having been given an easy time in front dropping in grade. First-time tongue-tie worn then is retained although he may not get such any easy lead this time.
French maiden winner for Pascal Bary (10.9f, good), final start for that yard. Offered little over hurdles since coming to this stable/GB and didn't shape with much promise when tried on the Flat recently, went with little fluency.
Course specialist (four wins, three at this trip) who shaped well last time when beaten by Pour Me A Drink (now 6lb better off), that one getting the run of the race. Has to be taken seriously again, this race likely to have a different pace profile.
Handicap newcomer, also makes turf debut having won well on AW last time at Chelmsford (10f, slow), staying on strongly to win by over 6L. Mark looks fair given his winning/previous form, has to be considered although 1m4f may suit better.
C&D winner, struck twice last year at this trip and 2f further, the second win coming off a 3lb higher mark. Not quite in the same form this year but looks to be steadily working his way back to form off a mark that he should be competitive off.
The gradual progress shown on the AW came to fruition with a maiden win at Pontefract (1m, good). That wasn't a deep race but showed his potential for handicaps on his debut in that sphere at Haydock (8.2f, firm), 3lb higher, scope to progress again.
Doncaster (1m, good) win looks strong form (third done well since), second at Redcar last time over 10f measures up as well as that win. This would be her toughest test so far but she should remain competitive off 3lb higher.
Looks on the way back to some sort of form the last twice when given a positive ride on both occasions (perhaps a shade too aggressively last time). Returns to a 2f longer trip this time around but may find this grade too competitive.
Forecasts
Returnofthemac (7/2), Time Voyage (4/1), Glasses Up (5/1), Pour Me A Drink (5/1), Regal Mirage (11/2), Thai Terrier (6/1), Out Of Breath (22/1), Sister Midnight (50/1)
The best and most competitive race on the nine-race card with Pour Me A Drink looking to follow up his C&D win from last time but he’s unlikely to get such an easy lead this time and course specialist GLASSES UP who was second last time coming from a long way back can reverse that form. He does have two dangerous and improving sorts to deal with though in the shape of Thai Terrier and Returnofthemac, the former making his handicap/turf debut but looking to be on a decent mark while the latter will enjoy his first try at this trip. Time Voyage is another to consider in a race where the form may well be worth following.
- Glasses Up
- Returnofthemac
- Thai Terrier
