Good effort when finishing second on Polytrack at Kempton last month, but not built on that in two turf starts since. Dangerously well handicapped now, but not the easiest to predict.
Several placed efforts since most recent win at Wolverhampton in July but still 5lb above that success. Had been in good form until a poor effort last time, and opposable on easy turf.
Winner of a C&D handicap last season but found life harder subsequently. Below form on both starts this term, but possibly building up fitness, and has slipped back to his last winning mark.
Hard to place after juvenile debut victory but bounced back to make all at Hamilton (6f, heavy) in September. Something seemed amiss (soon behind after restless in stalls) on her return at Ripon, and best not judged on that effort.
Stepped up markedly on his reappearance effort when scoring at Redcar from Normandy Barriere, and matched that form when third of 10 to Whelans Way at Newbury last week. Should remain in form.
Better on AW, but won off lower turf rating when beating The Lamplighter by a nose at Goodwood last month. Good fourth at Newcastle last time, and place claims here if things drop right.
Seems to enjoy getting his toe in and won over this trip on AW at Newcastle last June. Has shaped as if a return to 6f would suit on recent runs over 7f, and should have no excuses here.
Won back-to-back handicaps here (5f) and at Pontefract last term, and probably needed the run when well beaten on her return to action at Wolverhampton five weeks ago. Needs to step up, but still not fully exposed.
Improved when second to a subsequent winner on handicap bow at Carlisle a year ago, and did well to win there on final outing having raced on unfavoured part of the track. That form has worked out, and she is ahead of her mark for new yard.
Forecasts
Treacherous (16/5), Mina Velour (5/1), Tenax (6/1), Kapono (6/1), Baby Steps (7/1), Spoof (8/1), Buccaneers Vault (9/1), Springwood Drive (10/1), Conga (20/1)
Kapono is of interest dropping back to six furlongs having shaped as if stretched by a furlong further on more than one occasion. He has conditions to suit and will go well, but he might struggle to concede weight to MINA VELOUR if the filly is ready to go on debut for Julie Camacho. Her form last summer has worked out remarkably well, and she appears on a potentially lenient mark as a result. Buccaneers Vault makes obvious appeal on the back of two solid efforts, and Spoof could be a big player if putting it all in.
- Mina Velour
- Kapono
