Confirmed his return to form at Epsom (7f, good/firm) last time giving it a fair go under positive tactics. Would be dangerous around here in a similar scenario although unlikely to get an easy lead, remains hard to win with overall.
Dual winner early last year taking back-to-back handicaps at Redcar and Doncaster but failed to go on from that decent start. Well below-par when last seen on AW at Kempton this is an ease in grade off a break, can't be totally written off.
Hovering just above his last winning mark (dual 7f winner in 2019), threatening to come good soon having gone close at Newmarket (7f, good/soft) last time. Conceded first run to winner on that occasion, hold-up type, should get race run to suit.
Winless since rattling off a handicap hat-trick in 2018 over 7f (slipped back below his last winning mark now). Failed to come on for his recent run last time at Haydock (1m, soft), well held, bigger impact needed before he's of interest.
Sole C&D winner in the field, returned from the enforced break with an underwhelming effort (may have needed the run). Badly hampered at Haydock last time (run excused), may just need some help from the handicapper.
First ever run here having returned in good form (well-suited by a soundly-run 7f) gaining third places at Newcastle at Thirsk at up to 1m. May have made his move a little too early last time, faces an ideal scenario off a fair mark here.
Fairly useful handicapper when with Richard Hannon; yet to fire in two starts for this yard though (started big prices both times). Better last time at Redcar (7f, good), back on last winning mark eased in grade, may show more this time around.
Front-runner, looks the stable second string, has shaped well in a couple starts since returning to the fray. Did too much last time from the front trying to negate a wide draw at Thirsk (1m, good), better drawn here (won't get an easy lead though).
Benefitted from the misfortunes of others in-running when scoring a Thirsk (7f, good/soft) although that form has been franked since. Up 4lb, will need to improve again to follow up in a race that looks tougher/sure to be run at a good pace.
Back to near his best last time reverting to pace-forcing tactics at Thirsk (7f, good) last time in a race full of infrequent winners albeit they were off good marks. Widest draw of all makes life more difficult here, may face pace pressure.
Forecasts
Breanski (2/1), Queen's Sargent (4/1), Gentle Look (7/1), Saisons D'Or (15/2), Byron's Choice (8/1), Markazi (17/2), Parys Mountain (16/1), Magical Effect (20/1), Rum Runner (25/1), Starlight Romance (40/1)
It would be a real surprise if this handicap wasn’t run at a fair pace which will suit BREANSKI who deserves to win a race having produced a fine effort at Newmarket last time where the winner got first run on him in a stronger contest. Similarly Queen’s Sargent should appreciate how this race will develop having run well in two starts since coming back from the enforced break during which time he had a wind op. Markazi, Parys Mountain and the selections stablemate Saisons D’Or are all likely to go forward and provide the pace with the first-named of that trio coming here on the back of a fine Epsom effort.
- Breanski
- Queen's Sargent
- Markazi
