Still a maiden after 18 starts but did run respectably over C&D last month, staying on to finish a 2¼l sixth. Repeat of that gives him a chance but the fact he's not won one after so many starts tempers enthusiasm a little.
Placed over 7f here last year, so handles the surface, and comes here after back-to-back handicap wins at Yarmouth and Leicester (both 1m). Comes here at the top of her game and looks a main player in a modest event.
Twice a winner on all-weather surfaces last season and now 2lb lower than last winning mark, but not seen since February and this trip has seemed to stretch him in the past. Best watched.
Only had the four starts, and seemed to handle this surface when fourth over C&D in a modest novice event last year. Possibly found 10f too far at Haydock on reappearance and drop back to a mile may suit. Watch market is the advice.
Won a moderate classified event at Chelmsford in March but two lesser efforts since then, although a ready excuse for Newcastle effort last time (vet reported bled from nose). Not discounted but others preferred.
One win in 11 starts, that coming at Epsom, but has some bits and pieces of form on this surface and she's on a workable mark. However, she's not raced since January and may need this run, so is best watched tonight.
Still a maiden after 22 starts and she's not progressing. Acts on this surface and has hit the frame her eon her last two starts (both over 7f) but that overall record means she's opposable for win purposes tonight.
Six wins in 71 starts, usually pops up once a year at her beloved Brighton but usually opposable, and she's likely to need this run, her first since February, to put her straight.
Was going nowhere until a close third (at 66-1) over C&D on her reappearance last month, looking the winner at one stage until run out of it late. May come on for that and if she can repeat it, it gives her a chance here.
Never-dangerous fifth in a 6f novice event here last year but two backward steps since then have been less encouraging. In good hands and it's early days yet, so could conceivably do better.
Well beaten at big prices in three starts to date, and although handicaps affer him a more realistic chance, he needs to show a lot more. Cheekpieces tried tonight but others readily make more appeal.
Won a low-grade handicap off this mark at Southwell in January but has gone backwards since, and was well beaten at Windsor on latest start. Hard to make a solid case for.
Modest stuff in five starts but it wasn't a disaster when she finished a 3¾l eighth over 7f here last October. May improve a little for her first run of the season at Wolverhampton and isn't totally discounted.
Just two places to show for his 15 starts to date, but is worth a crack at a mile based on a couple of staying-on efforts over 7f recently. Not impossible he could do a little better, but in truth he needs to.
Forecasts
Jeanette May (10/3), Alezan (11/2), Mrs Benson (11/2), Vipin (7/1), Lady Morpheus (10/1), Johnny Utah (10/1), Midoura (14/1), Kiraleah (18/1), Poetic Lilly (20/1), Irish Times (25/1), Star Of St Louis (28/1), Sea of Cool (40/1), Mr Potter (40/1), Solveig's Song (50/1)
The first of two divisions of this low-grade handicap, and as tends to be the case, solid form is hard to find. That's not the case with JEANETTE MAY winner of her last two and with no worries about the surface, can complete the hat-trick before the handicapper starts to get to grips with her. Vipin isn't best drawn but has enough good efforts to make you think he could get involved in the finish. Poetic Lilly might be capable of better and has a basement mark to work from. Midoura put in a better effort which, if she can repeat here gives her chances. Alezan is unexposed and may do better tonight.
- Jeanette May
- Poetic Lilly
- Vipin
