Two runs last season were promising and it'd be harsh to judge him on his reappearance effort at Lingfield last month; he got upset behind the stalls and unseated his rider. That run was poor and is best forgotten; can do better now eased in grade.
Third of five latest but that form compares well enough to give him a shout at this level; yard has a good record in similar races and there are good grounds to expect a bold effort now back over 1m2f; does need to prove his stamina will hold out.
Introduced at a lowly level, her dam won over 1m in France and is related to a handful of classy individuals. Obviously lacks experience but the fact she's in a race of this nature for her racecourse bow raises interest; the betting can guide.
Best run to date came at Lingfield over 1m2f last month; not so good on the Polytrack at Kempton since but interesting she's now in a claimer and back down in trip. The switch to turf for the first time is a slight concern, though.
No impression in a 6f maiden at Goodwood last July but bred to appreciate this sort of trip and is an interesting contender at this level (he cost €30,000 as a yearling and is related to a good number of useful performers); in-form yard a big bonus.
Finished a long way adrift of Lady Magda over 1m4f at Kempton latest and has work to do if he's going to reverse the form; seems to have lost his way in handicaps so worth a try in this sort of race but still has a bit to find.
Slowly away and never landed any sort of telling blow on debut at Kempton at the start of last month (starting price was 250/1 and basically ran to expectations). Hard to recommend on that evidence.
Shown improvement since being upped in trip and made a respectable start to handicapping when fourth of 11 at Leicester last time out. The form is modest, however, and the way she folded in the closing stages creates enough doubt to look elsewhere.
0-10 in all races so far (0-4 on turf) and needs to significantly better her latest effort (albeit over 1m4f) at Kempton if she's going to have any sort of impact here. That previous turf form is poor; others make more appeal.
Forecasts
Herodotus (10/3), Lady Magda (7/2), Talking About You (4/1), Itsallaboutluck (5/1), Webuyanyhorse (7/1), Mr Wilton (7/1), Chichloui (16/1), Brown Eyes Blue (50/1), Lady Beat (150/1)
A weak claimer can go to ITSALLABOUTLUCK, who is the best of the bunch on official BHA ratings and has very little to find in this company for him to prove the handicapper's theory is correct. Herodotus needs to settle better than he did last time out but he too might raise his game in this weaker race. The newcomer, Chichloui, won't need to be anything out of the ordinary to fend off Lady Magda and emerge to emerge as the bets of the rest.
- Itsallaboutluck
- Herodotus
- Chichloui
