Veteran sprinter (third in this last year), rolled back the years last time at Newcastle (5f, slow) in handicap company (had the run of the race). That was his first win for two years; will find this tougher, never won beyond 5f, well-drawn.
Ultra progressive sprinter in 2019 winning five times concluding with proving himself at Listed/Group 3 level over 5f/6f. Goes with real zest, looked a little rusty on reappearance at Doncaster (5f, good), likely to be much nearer form this time.
Flying far too high in a Royal Ascot Group 1 last time having shown all his best form on AW (4-6). Best form has come over this trip but he's yet to win beyond a handicap, still remains to be seen what he can do on turf, would be a surprise winner.
Smart sort with a good strike-rate at 5f (10-32), acts on any ground; has generally come up short when pitched in at this level. Ended 2019 in good form (picked up two conditions events), second in Doncaster Listed 5f contest on return, respected.
Scored three times (2019) at 5.1f/6f in handicaps (improved each time), ended year with further progress (second in Listed company on AW, 6f). Dominated a Newmarket handicap in June (6f), failed to cope with career-high mark last time, tough task.
Ran to a consistent level in 2019, followed up a good second in the Wokingham by winning a top-class 5f handicap at Ascot. Just below that level in three Listed events afterwards, ran above himself in an Ascot 5f Group 1 last time, needs to repeat.
Listed/Group 3 winner last year at 5f/5.2f who shaped well as ever after nine months off at Haydock (6f, good); showed blistering speed. Better off at the weights with her conqueror there (Liberty Beach), return to 5f will suit, stable in good form.
Triple Group 2 winner as a 2yo (disappointed final juvenile start at Breeders' Cup) displaying some smart form. Failed to meet expectations on AW debut on return, Newcastle Group 3 (6f, slow), returns to 5f/turf, needs to live up to his 2yo form.
Dual 6f 2yo quick ground winner in minor events prior to losing his unbeaten record (well below-par) in a Newmarket Group 3 (first try at 5f). Gelded/wind op for return this year, built on good reappearance to take C&D Listed contest, major player.
Completed hat-trick as a 2yo with a win in a Chantilly 5f Listed contest prior to failing to handle the rise in class at the Breeders' Cup (Group 2). Faced a stiff task when making a handicap debut after eight-months off (poor draw), limited appeal.
Speedy/smart 2yo, four-time 5f winner at up to Group 3 level (also placed in Group 2, 6f). Proved right away she had trained on winning 6f Listed contest at Haydock; kept on well last time to finish third (Ascot 5f Group 1), still progressing.

Liberty Beach (13/8), Lazuli (9/4), Maid In India (8/1), A'Ali (12/1), Tis Marvellous (12/1), Dakota Gold (12/1), Tarboosh (18/1), Lady In France (25/1), Caspian Prince (28/1), Tinto (33/1), Rocket Action (66/1), Band Practice (100/1)
Since 2011 3yo’s have won six of the nine renewals with the market leader taking four out of the last five runnings of this event. Using that as a starting point it looks as though the two C&D winning 3yo’s LIBERTY BEACH and Lazuli will be in contention here with a narrow vote given to John Quinn’s filly. A Group 1 third to Battash at Ascot backing up her smart Haydock win on return. Her main rival Lazuli gets his toughest test yet but deserves his chance at this level given his performance here last time. Of the older horses the progressive Dakota Gold has to be considered especially as he will have come on for his recent return with Tarboosh and Tis Marvellous capable of getting involved.
- Liberty Beach
- Lazuli
- Dakota Gold
