Heavy ground winner of a 7f novice race at Redcar last October and finished a good 5L fifth in a Group 3 at Newmarket (7f) in similar conditions the following month. Disappointed over 1m on handicap debut last month and drop in trip should suit.

Dual winner over this distance including on fibresand at Southwell in January. Decent effort in finishing 12L ninth in a big field event on handicap debut at Ascot (1m, soft) last month and is a notable runner dropping in trip.

Broke his maiden when winning a heavy ground novice race over this trip at Yarmouth last October. Good fourth in a first time tongue tie (retained) upped to 1m at Newbury (good) on last months seasonal debut and holds strong claims once more.

Run well on all three starts to date following up a 3L success in a novice event over 6f at Newcastle in January with a third over the same trip on handicap debut at Leicester (good) last month. Step up in trip looks likely to suit.

Winner of three of his nine races most recently by a head in a good ground 7f event at Ayr just under a fortnight ago. Raised 6lb for that victory and interesting to see how he fares on this occasion.

Ended his two-year-old campaign with a 1L third in a heavy ground six runner 6f handicap at Hamilton at the end of September. Worth a check in the market stepping up in trip on seasonal debut.

Unbeaten in two starts over 6f at two and has run with credit in both outings this campaign including when 1½L second over 6f at Newmarket (good) last time out. Stamina to prove on first attempt at this distance.

Debut winner over this trip at Leicester (good-to-firm) last September and placed on the AW subsequently. Visor tried for the first time on handicap and seasonal debut having disappointed on his final start at two.

Placed twice from four starts most recently when beaten 1L on handicap debut in a good ground event over 1m here just over three weeks ago. One to note dropping in trip for a top yard.

Built on a promising 7f debut at Yarmouth (good-to-firm) when winning over 6f on good ground at the same venue in September. Absent since and is worth a check in the market back up in trip on handicap and seasonal debut.

Built on some promising efforts at two when winning a 6f novice contest on the AW at Newcastle by 4L in March. Looks likely to appreciate this step up in trip and is an interesting runner on handicap debut.

Forecasts

Society Lion (15/8), Jumaira Bay (3/1), Newbolt (13/2), Tiger Crusade (10/1), Tommy de Vito (12/1), Magical Max (12/1), Harrison Point (14/1), Mischief Star (22/1), Amaan (22/1), Embolden (33/1), Intrinsic Bond (40/1), Good Night Mr Tom (50/1), Bravo Faisal (80/1)

Verdict

SOCIETY LION performed well when fourth on handicap debut and he can record his second victory by taking this competitive three-year-old only handicap. The colts trainer Sir Michael Stoute can boast a 26% strike-rate (7/27) in recent weeks and the son of Invincible Spirit can improve on that at the chief expense of Jumaira Bay who finished runner-up to the selection when the pair met at Yarmouth last October. Third place can go to Newbolt who is bidding to complete a hat-trick and was a winner on seasonal debut last month.
  1. Society Lion
  2. Jumaira Bay
  3. Newbolt
