Went close on her second start for David Lanigan in a Chelmsford fillies' novice event (1m2f, AW) last September, but well held in all three runs since, the last two for this trainer over 1m4f/1m6f. Drops 4lb, in grade and in trip. Interesting.
Dual AW winner (7f/1m) who twice finished runner-up on turf over 6f last year. Acts on both good to firm and soft ground and is on a more competitive mark again now, so not ruled out.
Scored on debut at Newcastle (1m, AW) in 2017, but has been unable to add to that in 15 further races. Respectable return from an 11-month absence at Redcar (1m, good) last month, but a bit more needed from the same mark.
Ran up an AW hat-trick over 7f-1m½f in class 6 contests, the last of them when 2lb lower than this. Made a good return to action when less than 4L behind the winner at Kempton (1m, AW) last month. Acts on good to firm. Not ruled out.
Dual 1m AW winner, including last time out at Chelmsford, for which he has gone up just 1lb. Remains on a workable mark then, but has to put to bed his poor turf record (0-7).
Triple winner over 1m at Chelmsford (AW), the last of those earlier in the year coming when she was 4lb lower. Handicapper has had her measure since. Reasonably consistent, but another who has a poor turf record (0-5) to rewrite.
1-39 career record, and although he can occasionally come up with a competitive effort from lowly marks such as this, it takes a significant leap of faith to envisage him winning.
Forecasts
Harlow (2/1), Gregorian Girl (9/2), Sea Shack (9/2), Roca Magica (11/2), Azets (7/1), Steal The Scene (15/2), Malika I Jahan (25/1)
Moderate fayre and the suggestion is to give another chance to top weight MALIKA I JAHAN. Mick Appleby's filly sports first-time blinkers and although she has been well below her best in two runs for him, she drops back to what looks more her trip, as well as in grade, and that could be the key. Gregorian Girl is on the sort of mark from which she could be a big player, while both Harlow and Steal The Scene can also be competitive.
- Malika I Jahan
- Gregorian Girl
- Harlow
