Completed a double when victorious by 3L In a good-to-soft ground handicap over this trip last week. Carries a 6lb penalty for that victory and is one for the shortlist in this contest.

Nine race maiden finished 5½L seventh in a 5f handicap on the AW at Wolverhampton three weeks ago when last in action. Worth a check in the market back up in trip with blinkers tried for the first time.

Novice race winner over this trip at Goodwood (good) on debut just over a year ago but has struggled since including when 13½L 12th over 7f at Newmarket (good) on recent seasonal debut. Drop in trip looks likely to suit.

Five race maiden finished a decent 2½L third in a 6f handicap at Doncaster (good-to-soft) when making her seasonal reappearance earlier this month. Interesting with cheekpieces tried for the first time.

Maiden after seven starts and has finished well held in two outings over 7f this campaign including when finishing 5¾L eighth on good ground at Newmarket last time out. Market support would be notable dropping in distance.

Decent fourth over this trip at Lingfield on the AW when making her seasonal debut recently. Worth a check in the market on first turf start since finishing well beaten at Brighton (6f, good-to-firm) on debut last September.

Good 2L second in a handicap over an extended 5f at Sligo (good) last August but disappointed on heavy ground at The Curragh (6f) next time out and struggled on debut for this yard at Kempton (6f) back in February. Others hold more obvious claims.

Off the mark at the eighth time of asking when registering a ½L victory in a 5f handicap on good ground here when making her seasonal debut just over a fortnight ago. Placed over this trip at two and is a leading contender off this 5lb higher mark.

Seven race maiden finished seventh in a handicap over this trip at Kempton on seasonal debut back in February. Others make more appeal on his return from a break.

Placed three times from 11 starts but finished a well beaten 14L seventh at Newmarket (6f, soft) on his most recent start and he is probably best watched at present.

Forecasts

Eye Smiling (8/11), Vintage Polly (6/1), Port Noir (6/1), Somekindasuperstar (12/1), Diamonds And Rust (14/1), Bezzas Lad (20/1), Sovereign Beauty (20/1), Wilfy (22/1), Sir Gordon (50/1), Yolo Aris (66/1)

Verdict

A three-year-old handicap in which only three have shown previous winning form can go to the progressive EYE SMILING who has won each of her last two starts and can defy a penalty and top weight to get the better of her nine rivals. The selection has the forecast ground in her favour and she can get the better of Port Noir who should have no issues with this step up in trip having won over the minimum distance on her most recent start. Third place can go to Sovereign Beauty who looks likely to appreciate the drop back in trip.
  1. Eye Smiling
  2. Port Noir
  3. Sovereign Beauty
