Showed plenty of speed on encouraging debut but had a nightmare run when 21L eighth in similar contest at Pontefract (6f, good) last time out. Should be better than that.

Camacho colt. Dam raced six-time in France, winning once over 1m2f. Half-brother to two winners including 6f scorer Ginger Goose and 1m2f winner Dubawi's Thunder. Yard not known for winning debutante's so best watched.

Got the hang of things with an encouraging debut and improved once again when second over C&D eight days ago. Likely to have more progression. Leading contender.

Requinto colt who is a half-brother to multiple winners. Found life tough on debut when tenth of 12 (6f) earlier this month. No show that day but represents a top yard. Worth a check.

Lethal Force filly. First foal out of a dam who won twice between 5f and 6f and is from the family of the speedy Starspangledbanner. From top yard and not to be discounted on debut.

€8,000 yearling purchase. Was hampered at the start and slowly away on debut but took the eye with a staying-on fifth at Beverley (5f) earlier this month. Trip should suit and has claims.

Cheap purchase as a foal and related to many speedy winners. However, hung badly and failed to get involved on debut at Newcastle (6f) earlier this month. Plenty more needed on that evidence.

Filly by Fountain Of Youth. Sixth foal out of 6f-winning dam and half-sister to nine-time winner Mininggold and four-time scorer Bahuta Acha. Likeable winning pedigree but market should guide.

Fifth foal related to winning sprinters. Very slowly away but ran modestly to take sixth over C&D on debut 10 days ago. Improvement necessary but looks one for handicapping.

Forecasts

Rishworthian (6/5), Bowman (4/1), Nortonthorpe Boy (7/1), Blowing Wind (15/2), More Than Lucky (12/1), Selfless Act (12/1), Showtime Elle (18/1), French Red (40/1), Fliss Floss (50/1), She's A Deva (80/1)

Verdict

A likeable novice contest, preference is for the twice-raced NORTONTHORPE BOY to make it third time lucky. The juvenile has progressed nicely with each run to suggest there is plenty still left to come and while his slow starts have been a concern, should that be ironed out he will prove tough to beat. The filly Selfless Act went into many notebooks after a luckless debut and in a smaller field has every chance to go on once more, while the likes of Blowing Wind and More Than Lucky hail from yards who can strike with debutantes. Bowman needs to find more, but on his debut effort he would be in with a strong chance for Mark Johnston.
  1. Nortonthorpe Boy
  2. Selfless Act
  3. Bowman
