Smart performer although his appearances are fairly infrequent (only raced six times since 2017), yet to be seen on the AW. Ran poorly for the first time when last seen in an Ascot 6f Group 3, goes well fresh (all wins off breaks), been gelded.
Course winner (7.1f), two other placed efforts to his name here, ran very well over C&D (first try at 6f) when last here. Below-par at Ascot last week in a tough 7f handicap (may have found the race coming too soon), quick return leaves doubts.
Reeled off an AW four-timer late 2019/early 2020 (Polytrack/Tapeta) mainly at 7f showing a good attitude/turn of foot. Three starts since then have just failed to reach that level, has won over 6f but may well be that 7f suits better, stiff task.
Failed to get on the scoresheet last year (most efforts in competitive handicaps), well backed on return at Newmarket (6f, good/firm). Ran with credit there (had every chance, finished third), first time on the AW, 4lb below last winning mark.
Kept busy in 2019 after wind surgery at the start of the season, managed just one win, Chester (5.1f, good/firm). Ended the year with some sound efforts (especially second in Ayr Silver Cup), only had a couple of outings on AW, not badly treated.
Second run back from a wind op having not found things going to plan since good 3yo season. 2-4 on AW (both wins on Fibresand), below form on return here (7.1f, slow) last time (cheekpieces retained), would need to show more to be of interest.
Last win came over C&D off a 5lb higher mark with cheekpieces back on (second AW start). Disappointed for the most part on turf subsequently including on recent reappearance (one C&D outing since also below-par), needs to find some form first.
Twice second over 7.1f here earlier in the year (first time to Glen Shiel, reversed form time after), Dual 6f turf winner with his most recent effort showing he remains in some sort of form (caught rather wide), blinkered first-time on return to AW.
Capitalised on a much lower turf mark to score for first-time on that surface at Goodwood (6f, good/firm) when last seen. 8-20 on AW, includes a C&D victory last year at lower level, 0-2 in this grade but ought to be competitive in current form.
Gained his reward after shaping well for this yard (formerly with George Scott), matched his best form (well backed) to take a Wolverhampton 6.1f handicap off 4lb lower. Race failed to pan out over same C&D last time, capable sort, usually held-up.
Just the second start for this yard (joined from Andrew Balding) looked rusty on a rare 5f try at Doncaster. Twice an AW winner (both wins at Chelmsford, 6f), he's yet to win a handicap with that pair of victories coming over two years ago.
Formerly with Gordon Elliott, won once for him in a Carlisle maiden (5.9f, soft). Something to like about his debut stable/handicap debut here over 7.1f (hood fitted), could well be better than he's shown so far, not knocked about last time.
First run for this yard (sold 18,000gns from Nick Littmoden), five-time French winner previously (0-9 in GB). Ran some useful races without winning last year off of a gradually reducing mark, stiff ask today but one to note for the future.

This is a competitive heat and there are a few options for backers. The most obvious is the lightly-raced 5yo Tabdeed who goes well when fresh and has won four of his six starts although he’s yet to be seen on the AW. Glen Shiel has a good course record (132) although he might be better at 7f with this quick return leaving some doubts. Both Gabriel The Saint and Rathbone have placed course form and should go well along with Treacherous who returns to the AW having broken his turf maiden last time. CONCIERGE is the sporting suggestion though, already a C&D winner his yard are in good form and this race is likely to be run to suit. Gloves Lynch is one to watch for a market move.
