Horse A-Z

(12)
Horse silk
100/1
Slowly away, and soon toiling (at massive prices) in similar contests at Haydock (1m2f) and Pontefract (1m) in recent weeks; holds no chance whatsoever on that basis.
2
(9)
Horse silk
150/1
Phoenix Reach filly; was soundly beaten (50-1) on debut at Redcar (7f, good) last August; off since, and evidently isn't considered to be the solution to this puzzle.
3
(5)
Horse silk
16/1
Never reached a challenging position when sixth (of nine) to the progressive High Accolade at Redcar (7f, good) last week; should do reasonably well in the longer-term; each-way chance.

Horse silk
Gunnerside
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-2| J: K Stott| T: Grant Tuer
22/1
€25,000 yearling; second foal from the 5f AW winner Suite; half-brother to the equally speedy Yolo Again; merits a swift glance in the market exchanges.

(3)
Horse silk
80/1
Low-key on sole juvenile start for Mark Johnston; moved on cheaply (£5,000) earlier this calendar year; first start for the Spennymoor-handler Tracy Waggott.

Horse silk
50/1
Camacho gelding; stablemate of Total Distraction; was very easy in the market (40-1) when making a moderate debut at Redcar (7f, good) last week; cheekpieces are soon applied.
Cost 25,000gns as a juvenile; dwelt, and always in rear on debut (80-1) at Wolverhampton (7f) 17 days ago; look elsewhere with a fair degree of confidence.

Summer Escapeb1106
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-2| J: S De Sousa| T: G Boughey| BF
8/1
Raven's Pass gelding (cost 40,000gns as a yearling); was sent off joint-favourite on debut at Lingfield (1m) in March, but could only finish eighth of 11 to Luncies; sports blinkers on first run (ex-William Haggas) for George Boughey.

(11)
Horse silk
22/1
Sir Percy gelding; slowly away, and simply too green to do himself justice on debut at Haydock (7f, good) 18 days ago; should improve with this additional experience banked; more appealing than some.

Horse silk
Tilsit23
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-2| J: B A Curtis| T: C Hills| BF
4/11
First foal from a once-raced sister to the Grp 3 winner Remote (1m2f); edgy in the paddock, yet posted a fine effort in going down all guns blazing to Al Salt (pair well clear) over C&D 23 days ago; sets the clear benchmark.

(1)
Horse silk
125/1
Struggled to make any of form of positive impression at Pontefract or Kempton (both 6f); seeks a major improvement over a new trip - has stamina in his family line; stablemate of Make Some Magic.
12
(4)
Horse silk
25/1
Toronado filly from a middle-distance winning dam (Melrose Abbey); slowly away, and always on the back foot on debut (14-1) at Pontefract (1m, good) 12 days ago; sports the local John Dance silks.

(7)
Horse silk
Londont1238
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-11| J: A Elliott| T: Mrs I G-Leveque
66/1
Cost €30,000 as a yearling, yet achieved precious little as a juvenile (well beaten on heavy ground on both starts); tongue-tie applied on return from a 238-day absence; this fairer racing surface is thought more to her liking.
14
(10)
Horse silk
15/2
Free Eagle fily; finished squarely in the midfield (keeping on) on debut at Thirsk (1m, good) 11 days ago; will need to take a major step forward on the basis of that limited evidence.

Forecasts

Tilsit (4/11), Miracle Eagle (15/2), Summer Escape (8/1), Brazen Bolt (16/1), Gunnerside (22/1), Thomas Percy (22/1), Benedictine (25/1), Make Some Magic (50/1), London (66/1), Hajey (80/1), Bollin Neil (100/1), Total Distraction (125/1), Starter For Ten (150/1), Beatrix Enchante (150/1)

Verdict

It's still early days for the vast majority of these horses, but with solid form lines in very short supply it's virtually impossible to look beyond the all too obvious claims of the Charles Hills-trained TILSIT. Khalid Abdullah's charge went down all guns blazing to Al Salt (pair clear) over C&D 23 days ago. The suspicion is that was an above average maiden, so he would appear primed to strike at the second-time of asking. The newly-blinkered Summer Escape (first start for George Boughey) is a sketchy shout to be best of the rest.
  1. Tilsit
  2. Summer Escape
  3. Brazen Bolt
