Cost €140,000 and won maiden at Naas in August last year on second start, also went close in soft-ground Listed C&D event next time; disappointing on reappearance at Navan (1m2f, Listed) but perhaps didn't stay. Blinkers on back in h'cap; player.

Limerick maiden winner last season, sent off at 100-1 for a Naas Group 3 in March, she did really well to be 1¾L fourth to Lemista on first run for this yard; but not as good behind same rival next time and fast ground a concern.

Won a 29-runner maiden here (7f) on debut but beaten a long way in a Group 3 over C&D in August. Slowly away when down the field in a Leopardstown Group 1 on seasonal bow recently and needs to improve on h'cap bow.

Busy sort last year with 10 runs (two wins, including here over 6f); shaped with credit in pair of Leopardstown Group 3s recently (7f/1m2f) and cannot be factored out back in a h'cap from workable mark.

Kitten's Joy filly won a 7f Dundalk maiden on second start in September in good style; down the field on reappearance/h'cap bow here over C&D a fortnight ago, eased 2lb but requires plenty improvement.

Maiden winner at Dundalk in November; 25-1 chance and down the field in a 7f contest here recently on h'cap debut and lots more required on that evidence; though it remains very early days and he's in good hands.

5/1
Dark Angel filly who was a €160,000 purchase as a yearling; finished to good effect when narrowly winning 7f Gowran Park maiden recently on seasonal bow/second start. Scope for plenty better up in trip on switch to handicapping.

7/1
Roscommon maiden winner last season (7f, good); likely unsuited by testing ground at Naas in tough handicap in March and typically improved at Leopardstown (7f, good) recently; should have something to say from the same mark today.

Daughter of Muhaarar out of a Soviet Star mare; shaped with promise in three runs at Dundalk in January/February; latterly when third in a mile Listed contest (winner a Group 3 winner here this month and unbeaten). H'cap/turf bow and should go well.

Promising Golden Horn filly; decent effort in 1m2f maiden here this month on seasonal return/third start; down in trip and possible improver now turning to handicaps.

UK import left some poor runs behind when getting up late to win 1m Gowran Park handicap this month; carries 6lb penalty for that score and must improve in first-time cheekpieces.

Promising sort, though perhaps doing better on AW; finished 6L behind Bella Brazil at Gowran Park over 1m (good) earlier this month; having started favourite. Bit to prove, despite better terms with that rival.

Promise in a trio of starts as a juvenile, and not at all disgraced when sixth of 14 to In From The Cold in Madrid Handicap at Naas in March. Could run well at lengthy odds.

Verdict

The one that stands out is ORCHID GARDENS on turf/h'cap bow for trainer Michael Halford. The Muhaarar filly has finished in the money on all three starts at Dundalk, twice behind tomorrow's unbeaten Derby contender Crossfirehurricane. That latest of those was in Listed company and rubberstamped the notion she could be quite useful; so an opening mark of 80 can quite possibly be defied now. Dangers lurk aplenty in an unexposed line-up; with Salsa, Lynn Britt Cabin and Chrysalism amongst those feared and the race-fit Justina likely to play a part after a good recent showing at Leopardstown.
