Son of Fast Company out of a Dr Devious mare. Supported in to joint favourite on debut over C&D (good) earlier in the month, showing a good attitude to score. Carries a penalty now, but improvement anticipated. Contender.

525,000gns yearling; tenth foal; closely-related to 1m2f-1m3f winner Sour Mash and half-brother to five winners, two of them smart. Lovely pedigree and stable does best with its 2yos. Good debut anticipated.
Third foal; dam French 1m3½f winner, closely related to useful 1m winner Argentello, half-sister to 1m Listed winner Moohaarib and 1m2f Listed winner Trethias. Trainer 18% with 2yos over five seasons. Interesting on debut.

£280,000 yearling; second foal; dam fourth over 1m½f at two and 1m1½f AW in France and half-sister to two useful sprint winners. Trainer's runners in good form and he is 16% with his 2yos over five seasons. Interesting.

€60,000 foal (not sold €100,000 yearling); first foal; dam unraced half-sister to 6f 2yo Group 2 winner Blaine and 6f 2yo Listed winner Bogart; nice enough pedigree and stable's runners going well. Market check.

Forecasts

Devious Company (11/8), Legion Of Honour (7/2), Cairn Island (9/2), Jadoomi (11/1), Bagara (14/1), Catch Up Effect (16/1), Youth Spirit (18/1), Burristo (28/1), City Storm (50/1)

Verdict

This looks, more than anything, likely to be an informative contest, with representatives from several very good stables present. With several newcomers involved, reference to the market looks necessary, but the positive debut performance by DEVIOUS COMPANY, with improvement possible this time, suggests he may be good enough to defy a penalty. Cairn Island makes a fair bit of appeal on paper, as do Legion Of Honour, Jadoomi and Catch Up Effect.
  1. Devious Company
  2. Cairn Island
  3. Legion Of Honour
