Showed promise on debut at Newcastle earlier in the month (6f), though was held when favourite at Pontefract since then (6f, good), when looking like further would suit. He gets that here, and he enters calculations again.
€17,000 yearling; third foal; half-brother to 5½f-6f 2yo winner For The Trees; dam French 1m winner; in good hands and trainer has 14% strike-rate with his juveniles; could make a nice debut, so check the market for clues.
€8,000 foal (£9,000 vendor yearling); fourth foal; dam twice-raced in 1m4f maidens, half-sister to Australian 1m5f Group 2 winner Swashbuckling. Has the look on pedigree of one to watch on debut.
€2,000 yearling; second foal; dam 1m-1m½f winner. Represents a top yard whose 2yos are 13% over five years, so check the market for clues on debut.
€21,000 yearling (resold 17,000gns); half-sister to seven winners; sent off at 5-2 on debut at Pontefract recently (6f, good), but ran green and was well held. Would be no surprise to see a marked improvement this time.
16,000gns yearling; sixth foal; half-sister to two winners, the better being Bell Rock (7f 2yo/1m), out of 1m-1m2f winning half-sister to 1,000 Guineas winner Speciosa. Trainer 5% with his 2yos over five seasons. Market check.
£8,000 yearling; dam a sprint winner; 18-1 on recent debut at Pontefract, where she ran green until getting the hang of things and being beaten just over 2L into fourth over 6f (good). Has something to build on there and is a contender.
4,000gns foal; £600 yearling; 22-1 on debut at Chelmsford (5f) earlier this month, when never seriously involved. Much more needed.
Forecasts
Airflow (2/1), Influence Is Power (4/1), Deep Impression (9/2), Lanika (7/1), Lucy Rules (15/2), It's A Green Thing (10/1), Lady Bond (14/1), Desert Quest (50/1)
Airflow has shown promise so far, and although held last time, this trip looks likely to suit. He looks a big player, though preference is for DEEP IMPRESSION, who was green on debut and is given the chance to atone now she is also upped in distance. Influence Is Power looks a newcomer worth noting in the market, while of the others with experience, Lucy Rules looks a likely contender.
- Deep Impression
- Airflow
- Lucy Rules
