Has a likeable profile. Won twice on his last three starts - both at Dundalk - producing a career-best with 1m2f victory there in December. Top weight but no reason why he can't go on again.

Formerly a smart handicapper and has six wins from 17 runs. On a downward curve however and needs to find more after poor run at Meydan (1m) in the spring.

Lightly-raced winner in the UK for John Gosden. Not seen in a year since finishing down the field at Royal Ascot (1m4f, good to soft) and yard isn't known for landing these type of races. Others preferred.

Latest win came at Dundalk in October and ran well enough off revised mark with 2L defeat at that venue (1m) in November. Goes well fresh so cannot be ignored on return.

Previous course winner. Remains solid sort at this level and wasn't beaten far when eighth in Curragh handicap (1m) nine days ago. Yard in good form and not to be discounted.

Lightly-raced but promising sort. Tongue strap did the trick when winner of 14-runner maiden at the Curragh (1m) nine days ago. Likeable mark for handicap debut and holds leading claims.

Form began to tail off for previous yard in the UK, culminating when last of nine in Newcastle handicap (1m2f) 11 months ago. Not seen since and very little appeal about his chances.

Rattled off a hat-trick of victories last summer and showed he remains in that form with victory in 1m1f handicap at Gowran Park four days ago. Penalised for this but has claims.

Previous course winner and fared better than the result suggested when eighth in Navan handicap (1m) 11 days ago. Stable in good form and can go on once more.

Landed a Dundalk handicap beating some opposing rivals but not as good in two starts since, including poor seventh at that track (1m) in December. Current mark leaves her vulnerable.

Has very little mileage on the clock for her age and previous course winner. Solid second when last seen at Galway (1m) in October and remains unexposed at this level. Considered.

Dual scorer on the flat for Hughie Morrison who was best over 1m2f. Not in any vein of that form since and latest 16th in Navan handicap (1m) demands plenty more.

Seemingly struck a good level of form recently, bettering previosu efforts with god third at Navan (1m) 11 days ago. Sneaks in at the bottom of the weights and must be considered.

Patrick Sarsfield (6/5), Lightning Amber (7/1), Ideal Pal (8/1), Charcor (9/1), Theobald (12/1), Raphael (12/1), Koybig (14/1), Innamorare (14/1), Trading Point (20/1), Settle For Bay (20/1), Magnetic North (33/1), Questionare (50/1), Bobby K (66/1), Sod's Law (80/1)

Verdict

A race where form ties are typically closely matched, preference is for the unexposed types in this race. Lightning Amber could still be a classy sort and has gone well fresh before but PATRICK SARSFIELD showed potential group-race form when winning at the Curragh eight months ago. With his trainer hitting the ground running once again, he could be tough to beat. Top weight Charcor and Ideal Pal both have penalties for victories but that may not stop them running to their level, while Settle For Bay is out of form currently but was touted as a group-race performer in the past so cannot be entirely forgotten about.
  1. Patrick Sarsfield
  2. Lightning Amber
  3. Charcor
