Progressive 2yo, yet to run in 2020 (half-sister to high-class winner Alpha Centauri), won 2-3 as a juvenile including a Curragh Group 2 when last seen. Has a little to find on form/ratings but has all the makings of smart prospect stepping up to 1m.
Course winner on 2yo debut over 7f, failed to win again as a juvenile (placed in 7f Rockfel Stakes). Reappeared to run a fine race in 1000 Guineas, 4¼L second of 15 to Love (well placed on the day), needs to find a little more to score here.
Lesser-fancied of the two the trainer runs in this, useful 2yo although only won a Naas maiden (6f, heavy). Well positioned (travelled well) when making most to overcome a rise in class to take a 15-runner Leopardstown Group 3 (7f), progress needed.
Smart filly, 3-3 as a 2yo, capped a fine season by taking Fillies Mile at Newmarket. Too free early/middle stages of 1000 Guineas (wore first-time tongue-tie, removed now), did well to finish third to Love, needs to settle better to fulfil potential.
Gained plenty of experience as a 2yo (ran six times), acquitting herself well on each start (win came in 1m AW novice). Returned to win a Newmarket Listed contest (1m2f, good) under a positive ride (had most in trouble a fair way out), reverts to 1m.
American filly, won last three starts as a 2yo including Group 1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (1m, firm). Made a winning return at Churchill Downs (1m, firm) in May, won ½L (eased down), interesting runner, ground an unknown, tongue-tie on.
Still without a win, highly-tried in 2yo campaign (kept busy), in frame in pattern company last four juvenile starts (including Group 1). Ran well when third in Irish 1000 Guineas (seen to good effect), 0-9 so far, there are races to be won with her.
Forecasts
Quadrilateral (2/1), Sharing (16/5), Alpine Star (9/2), Run Wild (5/1), Cloak Of Spirits (11/1), So Wonderful (12/1), Love Locket (22/1)
Hard to discount any of the septet (all have valid form claims); the race has not had a GB winner in last five years. That streak may well continue as Irish-trained ALPINE STAR who has to concede fitness to her rivals is taken to emulate her half-sister 2018 winner Alpha Centauri and build on her Group 2 juvenile win. The home challenge is led by 1000 Guineas third Quadrilateral who has to learn to settle to fulfil her potential as she faces a rematch with the second from that heat Cloak Of Spirits. Aidan O’Brien saddles two with the maiden So Wonderful looking the pick while strong pace setter Run Wild won’t fail through a lack of stamina. US challenger Sharing is the wildcard in the race.
- Alpine Star
- Run Wild
