Won a heavy-ground 6f nursery at Hamilton in September, but seemed to find the trip too sharp when unplaced at Lingfield on his return. Longer trip should suit now, but others appear better treated.

Didn't have to improve to land a Wolverhampton novice in November, but took a step forward when third of 12 to Jovial on handicap debut at Lingfield (6f) last time. Finished strongly there, and step up to 7f will suit.

Best effort when winning a 7f novice at Wolverhampton in December, although failed to confirm that improvement when only fourth at Lingfield in February. May do better now handicapping.

Winner of a 6f maiden at Wolverhampton in February and ran well on his first two handicap starts. Only ninth of 12 to Jovial at Lingfield last time, however, and much more needed now.

Twice runner-up before opening account with 6f novice success on the Tapeta at Newcastle in November, and kept on well when third of 9 to Smokey Bear on handicap debut over 6f here two weeks ago. Step up in trip in his favour, and yard in top form.

Well-bred colt who confirmed debut promise when winning 7f novice at York (soft) in October from Fox Duty Free. Fact he's unexposed and proven on easy ground makes of serious interest on seasonal/handicap bow.

Dual 6f Fibresand winner earlier in the year, and shaped well after being outpaced early when second of 9 to Exceptional on turf/handicap debut at Pontefract 10 days ago. Can do better still, and worthy of respect upped a furlong in trip.

Won twice as a juvenile (including once in Sweden), but had wind surgery after disappointing in the autumn, and well held in a 1m handicap at Newbury on his return. Questions to answer now.

Better effort in two starts last autumn when fourth of 12 to Fruition in a 1m novice at Lingfield. Couldn't match that next time, but gelded since, and ought to progress given a break.

Best effort last term when a close-up last of four at Chester behind Breathalyze. Didn't match that dubious form on final start, and mark looks stiff on balance of form, for all yard is doing well.

Verdict

AL RUFAA was pretty free when winning at York on his second start, but proved his effectiveness on easy ground at at this trip in scoring there, and he could have plenty more to offer now handicapping after a break. King Ragnar and Lion Tower are just a couple among several who could improve now stepping up from six furlongs for the first time, and they head the list of possible dangers.
  1. Al Rufaa
  2. King Ragnar
  3. Lion Tower
