Not disgraced on stable debut when fourth in a decent looking contest at Yarmouth (7f; good) on seasonal return to action recently. Could come on from that but will be of greater interest when entering handicaps after this.

Medicean filly whose sales price dropped from 5,000gns as a foal to 3,000gns as a yearling. Dam a winner in Greece. Yard don't have a prolific record with newcomers and others are preferred.

Represents powerhouse connections and showed a decent level of promise on debut when fifth at Haydock (7f; good to firm) last season. That form has been let down by the handful of runners to have come out since, but she can't be ruled out.
37,000gns yearling by Night Of Thunder. Half-sister to GB/Australian 1m-1m7f winner Serenade The Stars (who won on the AW). Also a half-sister to a 1m2f Group 3 winner and granddaughter to a Lancashire Oaks winner. Looks the part on paper.

Showed no improvement from debut effort when last of eight over 5f at this track earlier this month. Hasn't beaten a single rival in either of her two career starts and is subsequently opposed with ease.

US pedigree. By Speightstown and cost a whopping $500,000 as a foal. Yard had a winner at Royal Ascot on Wednesday for these connections. Greatly feared on debut but does wear headgear which advises some caution.

Respected coming from this source but only beat the one rival in a decent looking contest on debut at Newbury (7f; good). Surprise if she wasn't capable of more with that experience under her belt but looks vulnerable for win purposes.

Finished narrowly in front of Winter Halo when sixth on debut at Newmarket (7f; good to firm). Open to improvement and her dam & half-sister are both AW winners so she may prefer this surface.

Form of her C&D debut effort when fourth to the talented African Dream can be upgraded after that colt pushed an odds-on filly close at Newbury last week. Should go close but needs to settle to give herself a chance.

Daughter of Tamayuz cost 70,000gns as a yearling. Half-sister to 5f-6f two-year-old winner Sunsprite who was placed at 'Listed' level. Betting likely to prove significant with this debutante.

Only midfield on debut when seventh in a weak looking affair at Wolverhampton (7f; standard). Could improve but that form highly unlikely to be good enough to see her feature towards the front end of this race. Looks one more for handicaps.
Muhaarar filly who is related to a handful of winners. Jockey/trainer combo operating at a steady strike-rate currently so she is respected on debut for these connections, especially if betting speaks in her favour.

Winter Halo14

Should be much more clued up this time round after showing some promise on debut in a typically competitive Newmarket (7f; good to firm) maiden. Makes AW debut and should have a part to play. Place claims.

Forecasts

Ligera (2/1), Byzantia (9/4), Khayyaal (5/1), Millicent (9/1), Winter Halo (9/1), Hawafez (18/1), Red Naomi (22/1), Grande Rumore (28/1), Lamorna (33/1), Sacred Belief (33/1), Rosie Mccann (150/1), Bronze Florin (150/1), Indian Star (200/1)

Verdict

This contest is up for grabs with no real standout contender on form. She is respected but Byzantia has something to prove on form and the fact she hasn't been seen since May last year. Both Winter Halo and Ligera are closely matched on the form of their debut runs at Newmarket in a strong looking affair. Of the newcomers Sacred Belief and Khayyaal look the part on paper. The former is likely to be stepped up in trip soon while the latter has an attractive US pedigree. The vote goes to MILLICENT though who did well to finish fourth after racing freely on debut over C&D. The form of that contest is solid and she can go one better this time round.
  1. Millicent
  2. Sacred Belief
  3. Winter Halo
