Came good at the third attempt when breaking duck over C&D last week. Stayed on well to win that contest, and looked to have kept a bit up his sleeve as he crossed the line in cosy fashion. Without doubt the one to beat.

Wasn't able to justify odds-on favouritism at Yarmouth (6f; good) last week, and the form of that race was let down by the winner at Windsor on Tuesday. Sole career victory came on AW though so encouraging he is returned to this surface.

Successful in a pair of weak events on the fibresand at Southwell (5f; standard). Didn't go up too much in the weights for winning those races, but was found out when slightly upped in class last time out at Kempton (5f; standard to slow).

Scored over C&D in January and then posted another solid effort in defeat when not beaten far into third at Kempton (6f; standard to slow). Had a 136-day break since then but mark remains unchanged and he could feature.

Showed clear improvement from previous efforts when beaten a head on handicap debut at Chelmsford (6f; standard) back in November. Not seen since but should be competitive off just a 2lb higher mark on seasonal reappearance.

Makes debut for new yard on first foray into handicap company. Ran to a similar level in a pair of maiden races at Kempton (6f; standard to slow), but will need to step up on what she showed then to have a say.

Posted a career-best when runner-up over C&D last week. That was clearly a step back in the right direction after a string of lesser efforts, but very difficult to see her reversing the form with Intrepid Italian.

Forecasts

Intrepid Italian (4/7), Gigi's Beach (16/5), Sir Rodneyredblood (17/2), Alex Gracie (11/1), Navajo Dawn (28/1), Diamonds And Rust (33/1), Twelve Diamonds (50/1)

Verdict

A small but select contest in which INTREPID ITALIAN is taken to follow up his recent C&D win and take his record in handicap company to 2-2. He showed a good turn of foot when asked to go and win his race, and hinted at there being more to come. On that basis it will be difficult for Alex Gracie to turn the form around but she should prove a live danger to the selection after posting her best effort for some time when third in the same race. Gigi's Beach was ultimately disappointing when proving incapable of following up his breakthrough win at Kempton on his penultimate start, but he remains unexposed and the return to AW offers him the chance to get back on track.
  1. Intrepid Italian
  2. Gigi's Beach
  3. Alex Gracie
