Multiple sprint winner on good or softer ground. 1lb higher than his most recent success at Newbury in April 2019. Subsequently placed in a French Group 3. Good record when fresh, including that win last year. Contender.
Back up 2lb after a couple of good efforts at Meydan in February, including a Group 2 second. Well worth his place at this level, despite advancing years, but record when fresh is 1-14, so also possible to question whether he might need this.
Continued his good record when fresh, when scoring at Newmarket last weekend (5f, good). Carries 4lb penalty for that, so needs to pull out a bit more, but that recent win was a career-best, so could find that. Acts on soft. Considered.
Prolific sprint winner, including several in this grade. Peak year was 2017, when with Kevin Ryan, but showed that he retains ability when scoring at Newbury (6f, heavy) when last seen. Has won three times when fresh. Each-way player up 6lb.
Dual course winner (5f/7f) on fast/soft ground. 6lb higher than when scoring at Ripon (0-95) last August, but recent record at this level suggests that he could be found wanting.
C&D winner, with all wins on good ground or slower. Back to a mark 1lb higher than when scoring here this time last year. Likely to be a big player again.
Multiple sprint winner, mostly on faster ground, though has won on good to soft. 3lb higher than his latest win in a Class 2 event at Windsor last July. Consistent performer and makes the short-list.
Multiple winner over 5f (has also won over 6f), but best form all on good/good to firm ground, so conditions are a concern. Certainly on a competitive mark and won last year when fresh, so can't write him off.
Prolific winner over this trip on AW/turf, including here in Listed company (soft) in 2017. Made a respectable return from a break at Newmarket recently. Drops 2lb and represents a stable among the winners this week. Contender.
Triple 6f winner when with Andrew Balding, his turf success being on good to firm (acts on good to soft). Changed hands for 24,000gns last October and makes stable debut here. Competitive mark but still a bit to prove in this grade.
Triple winner over this trip, his turf success coming on good ground at Windsor in 2018. Latest success was in a Class 2 Kempton handicap in April 2019, when 3lb lower. Not seen since being beaten favourite at Chelmsford a year ago. Bit to prove.
Dual C&D winner, including on soft. 3lb higher than the more recent of those, which came last August in a 0-95, but overall profile suggests he will find it tough at this level. Has had wind surgery since last seen in November.
Forecasts
Jabbarockie (10/3), Embour (5/1), Camacho Chief (6/1), Cowboy Soldier (13/2), Encore d'Or (15/2), Lahore (10/1), Orvar (12/1), Caspian Prince (12/1), Danzan (25/1), Teruntum Star (33/1), Stake Acclaim (33/1), Tanasoq (40/1)
A competitive contest where the answer could be CAMACHO CHIEF. Michael Dods' gelding is proven here and on softer ground, while he is also on a very competitive mark. It will be a surprise if he doesn't go very close. Encore D'Or looks a potential danger, as do both Stake Acclaim and Jabbarockie, while Terentum Star and Embour should both be thereabouts.
- Camacho Chief
- Encore d'Or
- Stake Acclaim
