Scored at Haydock (6f, good to soft) on his second start last year, but was some way below that form in subsequent two tries in Listed company. Since gelded and if back to his best, he could certainly get competitive from this initial mark.
Runner-up on her first two starts before finding some improvement to win third time out at Sandown (6f, good to firm) last September. Ran flat when beaten favourite on nursery debut, but claims from this mark if back on-song.
Showed promise when runner-up on debut at Newcastle (6f, AW) last November. Stepped up on that with an emphatic 3L success when returning to that C&D in January. This looks a fair initial handicap mark and he enters calculations.
Consistent gelding who got no less than he deserved when scoring at Newcastle (6f, AW; first-time cheekpieces) last November, after several close calls. However, 2lb higher than that novice win back in a handicap, so needs to have improved at home.
Scored at Windsor (6f, good; first-time tongue-tie) last August, on his third start, but has not improved on that in five further runs. Since gelded, but is another who needs to step up on previous efforts to defy this mark.
Got off the mark at the sixth attempt in a Yarmouth nursery (6f, heavy) last October. Added a Lingfield win when 6lb higher in December. Was too free on last week's reappearance but that run plus a 2lb drop could help him get competitive again here.
Broke his duck at the ninth attempt at Lingfield (6f, AW) in February, before defying a 5lb rise comfortably at Wolverhampton. Now has a further 7lb to contend with back on turf, where has made the frame once in six starts. More needed.
Showed ability after taking a couple of runs to get going, eventually winning on her fourth start at Windsor (6f, good to firm) in August in a novice event. Held on only subsequent run in a Salisbury nursery and up against it after 3lb rise.
Improved with each juvenile start to win the third of them at Beverley (5f, soft) last September. Initial mark looks stiff enough based on form, but if he is able to kick on again, then you couldn't write him off.
Took her eight attempts to get off the mark last season, but she did eventually oblige in a Catterick nursery (6f, soft), before going close under a penalty here three days later. Not seen since, but if ready first time she is not ruled out.
Came in for a bit of support when scoring on debut at Wolverhampton (6f, AW) in March. Failed to defy a penalty at Newcastle last week, though didn't get a trouble-free run. Not badly treated on handicap/turf debut and could be competitive.

Like so many three-year-old handicaps at the moment this looks open and potentially tough for punters, with several for whom cases can be made. Knightcap, Able Kane and Little Red Socks could come into it from lower in the weights. Bowling Russian can't be written off along with Little Brown Trout and Treble Treble of similar ilk. However, preference is for STAR IN THE MAKING, who does have a hiccough to overcome, but had previously been improving. Tommy de Vito and Charlemaine are both feared.
