Took advantage of a falling mark and a return to the AW when scoring well at Newcastle in October; more on his plate now at the weights but certainly seems to now have a clear preference for an artificial surface.

Can race slightly lower than her last winning mark; not the most consistent but wins her fair share of races; hard to catch right due to occasionally starting slowly; having first run on the AW since 2017.

Won three times last spring but failed to get his head in front from nine subsequent starts; is slowly inching down the weights and come here on the back of recent wind surgery; fair chance if running up to his best.

Was in fine form before lockdown, winning twice at this track over both sprint distances; tends to struggle in handicaps and while should give a good account of himself may find a couple too good.

Springwood Drive299

6/1
Proved herself a consistent filly last season culminating in winning her last two starts at Haydock and Pontefract; has gone up plenty in the weights but if she has wintered well then she has a excellent chance of landing a hat-trick.

C&D winner caught the eye when experiencing trouble in running in finishing 2¾L fifth in a handicap over 5f at Kempton last week; step up in distance no issue and he is one to note.

Three Card Trick238
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-1| J: Rowan Scott(3)| T: Phillip Makin| OR:  72
13/2
Started to find some consistency last autumn with fair runs at Chelmsford and Newcastle; looks a bit difficult to win with but capable of running a big race on seasonal reappearance.

Mutabaahy94
Age: 5|  Weight: 9-0| J: Cam Hardie| T: A Brittain| OR:  71| CD

Has won his last three races at this track and clearly thrives on this surface; has yet to prove he truly enjoys six furlongs but hard to discount at this racecourse.

Slowmo501
Age: 4|  Weight: 8-13| J: Callum Rodriguez| T: A Brittain| OR:  70| CD
25/1
Returned from a break with a victory in a claiming race over this C&D at the end of January; claimed by the current yard for £10,000 that day and he is one to note having been gelded since that latest success.

Marvel235
Age: 4|  Weight: 8-11| J: P Mulrennan| T: Miss J A Camacho| OR:  68
7/1
Has now finished second on five consecutive occasions; last seen tackling fibresand for the first time in October; break may have done him some good but lack of a win is a slight concern.

Forecasts

Mark's Choice (9/2), Griggy (5/1), Springwood Drive (6/1), Three Card Trick (13/2), Marvel (7/1), Seen The Lyte (7/1), Mutabaahy (8/1), Steelriver (11/1), Zamjar (20/1), Slowmo (25/1)

Verdict

The hat-trick seeking SPRINGWOOD DRIVE went from strength to strength last season and may prove too good for these exposed rivals should she have wintered well enough. She has a wonderful consistency last season and proved on her third career start that she handles this surface. Griggy met trouble in running last week at Kempton and with that edge in fitness this course and distance winner should go well. Mutabaahy loves this surface and is on a four-timer at Wolverhampton. Should he finally prove he stays six furlongs, then he has excellent place claims at the very least.
  1. Springwood Drive
  2. Griggy
  3. Mutabaahy
