Left previous form behind when springing a 33-1 surprise over 7f here in December; failed to follow up over same trip next time; still looks on a fair mark, step up in trip should suit and certainly one for the shortlist.

Showed some promise on his first couple of starts last summer, but didn't really build on that, including in handicaps; fair chance if settling better than usual but hard to make a strong case for.

Half-sister to Italian 6f-1m winner Finisela Subit, she hasn't offered too much in novice starts at Nottingham (6f, soft) and Leicester (7f, good) or on only AW start at Wolverhampton when last seen in September; others preferred.

Took a long time before showing any form last season; best effort came here over 7f and ran a similar race over this trip at Kempton in March; capable of improvement but others look more likely winners.

Difficult to assess based on some very patchy form as a two-year-old; a reproduction of the form she showed in decent contest at Ripon in early August on second racecourse appearance would give her a squeak but hard to be confident about.

Grace Note242
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-5| J: Rossa Ryan| T: R M Beckett| OR:  58

Best effort came on penultimate start at Brighton in September but struggled on handicap debut at Newcastle in October; difficult to suggest her as a likely winner on all known form.

Showed a reasonable amount of form since joining new connections four starts ago; would not need to have improved too much to be involved in this weak looking contest.

Sir Havelockp235
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-4| J: T Hamilton| T: R A Fahey| OR:  57

Ran some fair races over a variety of trip before not enjoying himself in the mud at Nottingham on his last start of the season; interesting contender if he has wintered well.

Age: 3|  Weight: 9-4| J: S W Kelly| T: R Hughes| OR:  57

Well beaten on all his four starts last season; best effort did come on debut but overall level of form does not seem good enough off current mark.

Berkshire Philly202
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-4| J: Joshua Bryan(3)| T: A M Balding| OR:  57

Will need to show a lot of improvement on all known form to be in with a chance here; best effort came over an extended mile at Wolverhampton but difficult to get excited about.

Uncle Sid219
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-3| J: A McCarthy| T: W Jarvis| OR:  56
20/1
Showed a glimmer of ability on final start of last season and seems the type who will do better over this slightly longer trip and with age; worth a look in the market.

Horse silk
Kahpehlo267
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-2| J: Charlie Bennett| T: J J Bridger| OR:  55
125/1
One of the more exposed in the line up and does not jump out as a likely winner based on last season's form; best effort did come on latest start here on turf in September but not hard to pass over.

Forecasts

Ten Chants (9/2), Annie Quickstep (5/1), Sir Havelock (5/1), Grace Note (6/1), Berkshire Philly (7/1), Led Astray (11/1), Mackelly (11/1), Hiconic (14/1), Uncle Sid (20/1), Dover Light (33/1), Fedora Fits (33/1), Kahpehlo (125/1)

Verdict

It might pay to side with topweight ANNIE QUICKSTEP who is one of the few runners in the contest to have won a race. If she has strengthened up over the winter she may still be ahead of the handicapper. Another whose chance will be determined by any progress made over the break is Hiconic. She ran some creditable and consistent races in defeat last season and can run a big race. Sir Havelock has ability and a level of consistency that could see him in contention if recovering from a below par run in the mud on his final run of last season.
  1. Annie Quickstep
  2. Hiconic
  3. Sir Havelock
