Successful once on AW (Polytrack, 1m6f) when with Ralph Beckett he's shown very little for this yard mainly over hurdles. Both Flat starts last year left a little to be desired (well beaten over 1m4f here); 5lb out of weights, makes little appeal.

Verdict

Modest fare for the grade with a limited number of progressive types in the field. COLONY QUEEN was in fine form last season and still looks capable of defying her new mark returning to action on the AW (run well when fresh before). Fiesole is another to keep an eye and still looks well handicapped in this sphere although he did look a bit of a handful when last seen on the Flat. Regal Mirage is a solid sort at this level while course winner Benadalid could make an impression given his decent record here (134). Royal Regent needs to show his form away from his beloved Ayr and Firewater looks to be in the icy clutches of the handicapper.
