Won for the second time in the space of six weeks when justifying favouritism at Sandown (1m, good to firm) last August; didn't show up too positively at Meydan thereafter (five starts) and has since left the care of George Scott.
Knocked at the door on various occasions last spring/summer (7f-1m), earning the right to go on her travels to Bro Park (Sweden) and Meydan (Dubai) latterly; holds few secrets from the handicapper and that could well make life fairly tough.
Sprung a 33-1 surprise when winning a 1m handicap (turf) at Meydan in late February; has won four-times over this 7f trip on these shores, and seemingly rates as the principal hope for the Melbourne 10 (ahead of new recruit Lyndon B).
Improved steadily late last season after setting the ball rolling in a 7f maiden at Kempton Park; does compete from a career high handicap mark (93), but with real aspirations of developing into a Royal Ascot style handicapper; of interest.
Highly tried last summer (notably in Class 2 handicaps at Glorious Goodwood and Ascot); wasn't at all disgraced when chasing home the James Tate-trained Intuitive on the Polytrack at Kempton (7f) on his penultimate start; place claims.
Sole success from 18 starts came in a 5f novice at Chelmsford in September 2018; has blown hot and cold, although his Glorious Goodwood second to Land Of Legends (7f; Cl 2) demonstrates that ability does lie within; tricky to accurately assess.
Twice edged out in competitive 7f handicaps on Tapeta at Newcastle earlier in the year, and returns to turf seeking his first success since May 2019 (Leicester); possibly sits just a few pounds too high in the handicap from a mark in the low 90's.
Produced back-to-back 7f wins at York (66-1) and Thirsk (3-1f) in late summer before finding life a shade too competitive in stronger contests at Ascot and Musselburgh; career best required from her elevated handicap mark.
Certainly is no stranger to the winners enclosure (7-30 career), including twice on Newmarket's Rowley Mile (7f-1m); was a narrow winner of Wolverhampton conditions stakes (1m+) in March; much better treated back on turf - rated 15lb lower.
A useful performer for Hugo Palmer, finishing runner-up in the 7f Gigaset International Handicap at Ascot in July 2018; last season wasn't his most productive; has since joined the shrewd David O'Meara for 90,000gns; market most helpful.
Progressive on the AW since the turn of the year (a 7f winner at Chelmsford & Wolverhampton); that said, his handicap mark has taken a hit as a result, and this is appears to be a tough re-introduction to turf action; stablemate of Deep Intrigue.
Dark Angel colt; has raced exclusively between 5f and 7f (winning four times on varying AW surfaces); absent for 320-days since finishing a short-head second to the front-running Qutob on the neighbouring July Course; stablemate of Asdaa.
Forecasts
Arbalet (5/2), Bear Force One (10/3), Kimifive (17/2), Via Serendipity (9/1), Rathbone (11/1), Asdaa (12/1), Deep Intrigue (14/1), Jack's Point (18/1), Hateya (18/1), Excellent Times (18/1), Cliffs Of Capri (20/1), Lyndon B (28/1)
Formerly with Hugo Palmer, Arbalet is a fascinating new recruit (cost 90,000gns) for the very shrewd David O'Meara, so it would come as no real surprise if this five-year-old were to prove very strong in the market exchanges. However, the most progressive (and also lightly raced) horse in this Class 3 handicap is Roger Teal's BEAR FORCE ONE. He competes from a career high handicap mark (93), but could feasibly yet be Royal Ascot bound were he to make a successful winning seasonal reappearance. Others worthy of a positive mention include the Meydan scorer Cliffs of Capri and the often highly-tried Kimifive.
