Epsom novice winner on second start last summer and then finished runner-up in useful Chepstow novice (7f, good to firm; 6-1) under penalty, giving best only to the fav. Up in trip and opening mark looks fair.
Improved with each of three starts last year, winning a 1m Newcastle maiden on latest of those in November. Likely needs a bit more upped in trip to defy this opening mark, however.
Dansili colt saw benefit of first run when scoring second-time-out at Wolverhampton (1m1½f, AW; 9-4f) in November with a couple of next time out winners in second and fourth. Sets the standard and should be progressing again back on turf.
Son of New Approach won second time out at Newcastle over 7f in January but was disappointingly turned over at odds-on back there a month later. Must improve to regain winning thread on handicap bow.
In the money all three starts in novice contests late last year at 7f/1m; though unable justify 4-5 favouritism at Lingfield on most recent of those. Up in trip for handicap debut and has scope for better.
Made all for winning debut at Bath (1m, firm; 9-4) in September before getting mugged on the line at Newcastle (7f, AW; 8-11f) next time under penalty. Up in trip now handicapping and likely improver for strong yard.
Winner of a Kempton maiden and Lingfield novice (both 1m) in two starts earlier this year; should be more to come upped in trip for handicap bow but likely has to improve to defend perfect record now switched to turf.
Won a 15-runner fillies' maiden at Newmarket (7f, good; 14-1) on third and final turf start last year, she'll surely have to improve on that if hoping to continue winning ways on handicap bow.
Fancied in betting for both runs at Chelmsford (1m) in the winter and took runner-up spot on second of those. Not a major surprise if he makes some progress on handicap/turf debut.
Off the mark in good style when taking a 1m Kempton maiden in December on third start; Night Of Thunder filly has plenty scope for better now sent handicapping.
Winner of a Windsor nursery (1m, good to firm; 7-2) in August but more exposed than plenty of these rivals having been held twice thereafter. Down in grade and eased 2lb on return to action.
Filly recorded four wins in eight starts after joining this yard from Ed Dunlop last year; though they all came in Class 5/6 company. She has more on her plate here and likely finds a few of these too strong.
Forecasts
Celestran (11/4), Group One Power (10/3), Zabeel Champion (11/2), Naizagai (8/1), Union (10/1), Bodyline (16/1), Make It Rain (16/1), School Of Thought (18/1), HMS President (22/1), Arthur's Court (33/1), Lady Lynetta (40/1), Goddess Of Fire (80/1)
This looks a warm heat to kick things off. Unbeaten in two starts, Group One Power is one of a few interesting handicap debutants and rates a major player. Preference though is for Wolverhampton winner CELESTRAN. He was still learning in what was just a second outing but did it nicely and the form was boosted by the second and fourth winning next time. John Gosden's colt may defy an opening mark of 82. Zabeel Champion, Bodyline and Make It Rain are others meriting a place on any shortlist.
- Celestran
- Group One Power
- Zabeel Champion
