Winner of two of his last five starts but a bitter disapppointment when made favourite on latest start at Lingifeld, already looking under pressure when hampered mid-race; higher again in the handicap today, and on balance, others preferred.
Did the job nicely at Wolverhampton last November but threw in a stinker when odds-on to follow up at Chelmsford in January, finishing well beaten. Too soon to write him off though, and any money for him from shrewd yard needs noting.
Ready winner at Chelmsford in January but went right off the boil after that, last in three subsequqnt starts and stopping very quickly on final start; hard ot know what to expect, but others simply have more solid cases.
Not out of the frame in any of his four starts but couldn't be said to be improving much either; has looked a little short of pace at times too, so the drop back to 5f not necessarily a positive; chance is there to see, but he won't be much value.
Made all the running to score at Musselburgh last July but found life a bit harder from her revised mark after that; might appreciate coming back from a break but isn't the best drawn all the same, and will face competiton for the lead here too.
Did well to score from a moderate draw over C&D in October of last year, his final start, and has fared much better with the draw this time around, up 7lb for that win but a surprise if there's not more to come, and he has to take high rank.
Winner on heavy ground at Nottingham on second of three starts to date, and a bit disappointing she couldn't do better at York off the back of that, well beaten; open to improvement though, and simply can't be discounted.
First start for new yard today, having left Alan King; came good on quick ground in August and there were a couple of credible efforts after that too; faster they go the better his chance late on.
Best effort to date came at Newbury last September when third in a big-field maiden but it was disappointing that he took a couple of backward steps after that; this looks a suitable test though, so watch market is the advice.
Ready winner on debut at Nottingham and that form has worked out fine; well below that in a Listed event at York but looks very well handicapped on that debut in and from a decent draw, could be the one to beat if she's ready to go today.
Forecasts
Never Dark (2/1), Newyorkstateofmind (3/1), Lady Fanditha (9/2), Agent Shiftwell (8/1), Roman Melody (12/1), Spirit Of The Sky (14/1), Colonel Whitehead (20/1), Dandizette (33/1), Zulu Zander (50/1), Port Winston (125/1)
This could be a race where the market could tell you plenty, particualrly reagrding the likes of Agent Shiftwell, Roman Melody and Spirit Of The Sky but LADY FANDITHA looks on a very workable mark based on her Nottingham win and given that was on her debut, she could easily be ready to win first time up this season. Never Dark has the form in the bank and should be in the frame, and Newyorkstateofmind was impressive when winning here on his final start of last year, and should have more to offer.
- Lady Fanditha
