Showed huge improvement here over 6f last backend on second start and form looks solid. Left John Gosden's stable for 28,000 gns and could prove to be a good buy in time; Ryan Moore booked.
Brazen Beau half-brother to useful 5f/6f winner Ascot Day, place in a Godolphin 1-2-3 at Newmarket (5f, good to firm; 12-1) last spring on sole outing. Likely has similar aspirations at least.
Lope De Vega colt was nailed close home on debut at Newbury (6½f, heavy; 3-1f) in big-field maiden in the autumn (front two clear). Race has thrown up four winners since and he looks set to play key role now.
50,000 gns yearling; dam 6f two-year-old winner, half-sister to Italian Listed-placed 5f juvenile winner Lady Ro and 6f-7f winner Flexible Flyer out of 7f winning half-sister to 6f two-year-old Group 2 winner Nevisian Lad.
War Command gelding, showed some promise in his two runs last year but will have to step things up considerably to be landing this contest.
Nicely related son of Oasis Dream was a head-second in 6f Wolverhampton novice on debut just before the break; likely improver and should be in the firing line again.
Fetched £130,000 as a breeze-up buy and confirmed promise when runner-up on debut at Newcastle (6f) last autumn having started 6-4f. This looks stronger on paper.
Camacho gelding. Related to a 5f-7f winner in Italy. Trainer not renowned for winning newcomers which tempers enthusiasm in a decent line-up. Market check advised.
€20,000 yearling; dam unraced sister to French/Belgian 1m2½f-1m6f winner Riquita, half-sister to French 1m Listed winner/good broodmare Polygreen and Listed-placed 6f winner Perfect Blessings out of French 1m Listed winner.
Iffraaj filly. Half-sister to 7f winner Invitational. Dam, 7f winner, half-sister to useful 6f winner Queen's Pearl. Comes from respected yard and should be ready to roll first time out.
Half-sister to useful winners Tight Fit (7f), John Kirkup (5f-6f), Kommander Kirkup (5f-6f inc Fibresand) & Kolossus (6f two-year-old); dam placed 7f-1m, half-sister to 4½f-7f winner Tambour Battant out of Listed-placed 1m two-year-old winner.
By Dream Ahead, dam 6f winner (including at two/Group 3), half-sister to winners up to 1m out of 5f two-year-old Listed winner. Entitled to respect on debut.
Forecasts
Cold Front (1/1), City Walk (2/1), Meraas (7/1), Perfect Focus (18/1), Al Hajees (20/1), Marietty (33/1), Captivated (50/1), Mosey (66/1), Fresh (80/1), Tagovailoa (125/1), Imperial Command (250/1), Salsa Dip (250/1)
COLD FRONT was edged out in a 20-runner heavy-ground Newbury maiden on debut in the autumn having travelled strongly in the lead. The front pair had clear daylight from the pack, which has already thrown up a quartet of subsequent winners. William Haggas' smart-looking colt sets the standard on that effort and may go one better. Meraas, Captivated and City Walk are others with form to note, while Al Hajees and Fresh are noted newcomers.
- Cold Front
- Meraas
