Winner here on debut and has another AW win to his name on Polytrack but he's become particularly frustrating to follow in recent times, a beaten favourite in five of his last six starts. Step back up to 6f should suit but looks vulnerable.
A three-time winner on turf and tries AW for the first time here. Out of form on each of his last four starts of 2019 and opposable on return, despite getting back to his last winning handicap mark.
Generally consistent and got his first win on the board for this yard at Haydock last year. Beaten favourite last time though and remains 5lb above his last winning mark. AW debut.
Five-time course winner who has won three of his five starts since February, all at this venue. Only narrowly denied on Tapeta at Wolverhampton last time out but up 1lb and hasn't won over this trip since 2017; career high mark too.
Has looked talented at times but very hard to predict and didn't take to Chester when last seen in August. While he ran with credit here on only previous course appearance, his recent record fresh is poor and he's hard to fancy.
Gained a second win of the season at Catterick in August but struggled badly in three races subsequently. Bought for just 15,000 gns in October and yet to win from a mark this high but worth a market check on debut for this yard.
Won four and placed in another four of his nine starts last year, largely at 6f. Could go on progressing this campaign and he has some useful AW form at Southwell; mixed record fresh but certainly worth considering.
Course winner who returned from more than two years of the track here in March, running well before fading late (beaten 5L). Dropped another 3lb now and difficult to assess how much of his old ability he retains; market check advised.
Gained a first win since 2017 in a Bellewstown handicap in July (dead-heated) and returns 3lb lower than that mark following some below par efforts towards the end of last season. Debuts for new yard and probably best watched for now.
Yet to add to two wins that kicked off his career as a juvenile but ran some creditable races last season, including in a valuable race at York. Disappointed on only AW start when last seen and has a bit to prove on return, despite reduced mark.
Didn't manage to build on his sole success last season when winning at Nottingham on heavy ground. Starts out for a new yard but disappointed on his only previous AW start when finishing 10th of 12 here last year.
Two from four on AW (both on Tapeta at Wolverhampton) but disappointed on his return back at that venue in March. Still above his highest winning mark and others have stronger claims.
Forecasts
Heath Charnock (10/3), Brian The Snail (13/2), Yousini (13/2), Wild Edric (13/2), Tricky Dicky (7/1), Tathmeen (10/1), Lincoln Park (12/1), Tenax (12/1), Northgate Lad (18/1), Dalton (25/1), True Blue Moon (33/1), I Am A Dreamer (80/1)
A competitive handicap but TRICKY DICKY should give a good account of himself if he arrives in the same form that he was in throughout most of last season. Course specialist Tathmeen is an obvious threat despite his career high mark and a slightly longer trip than what might be ideal. Yousini is getting back on a workable mark and is another to consider for trainer Kevin Ryan.
- Tricky Dicky
- Tathmeen
- Yousini
