Fair winning hurdler who was set to be well held when falling two out on last month's chasing debut at Naas. Best form is at 2m and others here have much more pressing claims.
Well beaten in two runs over fences this season and blinkers now need to spark an improved performance on chase start. Good novice hurdler two seasons ago when a C&D winner and also winning a Grade 1 at Punchestown. Not lightly dismissed.
Sole win came on his debut in a point. Some fair form over hurdles but more is needed on balance of it here and was a well beaten third on chasing debut over 3m at Leopardstown last time.
Only three wins came over hurdles in 2015-16, all on heavy ground. Modest performer nowadays and was well beaten in sole previous start over fences in 2016. This veteran is easy to oppose here.
Three hurdles winner in a busy 2019, all at around 3m. Useful over hurdles and wasn't far off peak form when third at Cheltenham last time in October. A definite contender if resuming in top form on this first start over fences.
One-time high-class Flat stayer and though not as good last season, was still pretty useful then. Has never been as good over obstacles but two efforts in this season's belated switch to fences, both here, entitle him to plenty of respect.
Maiden who has some fair form over hurdles but best form of his career came when third in beginners' chase over 2m5f at Leopardstown in December. Heavy defeat in a Grade 1 at same track last time but good chance on that previous effort.
Point and hurdles winner who has shown ability over fences, including when 25l fourth behind a good horse at Navan (3m) on stable debut last time. May run well without quite winning.
Winner over hurdles at Clonmel last season, at 3m. Fell here on chasing debut before returned to fences and a length third at Limerick last time. This return to a longer trip is a plus but more definitely needed on that Limerick form.
Interesting that this winning pointer improved significantly on his modest hurdles form when a close second at Wexford in July in sole previous start over fences. Needs to find more but that is possible. Tongue tie is left off.
Winning pointer whose best hurdles run came when second over C&D two starts back, in January. Pulled up last time and plenty find even if back to that previous C&D form.
Forecasts
Myth Buster (11/8), Salty Boy (7/2), Max Dynamite (13/2), Dortmund Park (8/1), Thermistocles (9/1), Macgiloney (12/1), Hotel Du Nord (16/1), Chesterfield King (50/1), Monty's Mission (50/1), Woodbrook Boy (80/1), Ice Cool (100/1)
This can go to MAX DYNAMITE, whose glory days - including twice being placed in the Melbourne Cup - are behind him but who has run well enough in two starts belatedly switched to fences lately to have a leading chance. It may also be significant that connections are persevering in this sphere with him, given what a good horse he has been. He can take this ordinary race, possibly at the main expense of Macgiloney. Myth Buster and Dortmund Park are others of strong interest too.
- Max Dynamite
- Macgiloney
- Dortmund Park
