Out of luck over fences in 2019 and switched to timber last time when solid fourth of 15 over C&D, only fading on the run-in. Runs off same mark with top jockey booked so one worthy of consideration despite top weight.
Only win over hurdles came at Fakenham in 2016 and has been a frustrating sort. Fair third penultimate start at Sedgefield in November but failed to stay 3m at Musselburgh when well beaten last time. 2lb lower now.
Won Ludlow 2m maiden hurdle on first start over timber in 2018. Distant second at Huntingdon in April but poor runs under both codes when last seen in summer and has plenty to prove on first start for more than six months.
Won novice hurdles at Uttoxeter and Stratford last summer then put in two modest runs. Returned to fray here over 2m last month and finished distant last of 11 on testing ground. Eased 4lb but needs to find some old form to trouble the judge.
Won bumper and maiden hurdle in Ireland for Joseph O'Brien but has run poorly both starts for current yard over 3m. Drops back in trip and eased 5lb since last effort but hard to fancy on what we've seen of late.
First-time cheekpieces applied for four-time Flat winner at up to 1m6f. Shown signs of some ability over hurdles at 2m but yet to place in four attempts. Longer trip should help and not out of this if headgear spark a revival.
Three runs over hurdles so far hinting at ability on second start when third in Huntingdon novice hurdle. Steps up now on handicap bow for top yard and well worth a second glance especially if market speaks in his favour.
Stayed on well over 2m in heavy ground at Plumpton and has run solid races in defeat last two starts. Worth a try at this longer trip and may well be suited by sounder surface.
Won at this trip at Catterick three starts ago and third under 7lb penalty following week at Huntingdon. Seemed to be going well over C&D 3 out last time but eventually weakened and well beaten. Given seven-week break so may bounce back.
Only win came over this trip at Bangor in 2018 and on a long losing run since then. Hasn't seemed likely to take advantage of falling mark but should be fit enough after recent spin in jumpers bumper.
Needs decent ground to show his form and had optimum conditions when scoring twice at Perth in summer 2018. 16 months off prior to finishing tailed off at Kelso in December but should strip fitter and has beene ased 4lb.
Stays well and won over 2m6f at Cartmel in August. Out of form all four starts this season and has dropped total of 9lb. Better ground seems only hope of prompting a revival.
Forecasts
Garbanzo (2/1), Western Rules (4/1), Just Call Me Al (6/1), Bard Of Brittany (6/1), Kilpin (12/1), Oksana (14/1), Roycano (16/1), Ofcourseiwill (18/1), Politeness (28/1), Los Alamos (28/1), Simply Loveleh (28/1), Takbeer (100/1)
Plenty with chances here but KILPIN is completely unexposed and might be worth chancing on handicap bow tackling this longer trip for the first time. Garbanzo is interesting with the first-time cheekpieces applied. On the pick of his form he would have every chance and should relish this longer journey. Western Rules has the right man on board and top weight might not stop him getting very much involved, while Bard Of Brittany and Just Call Me Al are both worth keeping an eye on for any betting move.
- Kilpin
- Garbanzo
- Western Rules
